FAQs about finding a PT in NYC

How much does a personal trainer cost in NYC?

According to Bark data from the Mid-Atlantic region, a personal training session costs between $49 and $125. This cost of hiring a PT in New York will be influenced by factors such as the specific state or metropolitan area, the instructor's credentials, and whether the session is private, group-based or online. Further details can be found in our detailed guide on the cost of PTs in 2025.

Is a fitness trainer worth the cost?

In an expensive city like New York, it's a fair question. The biggest benefits of hiring a gym trainer, whether you're new to fitness or a seasoned pro, are accountability, motivation, and personalization.

If you’re planning on private training sessions, your workouts will be personalized to your own goals and current fitness level. This means you’ll likely see better and faster results, than you would from joining large fitness classes or following a generic plan online. It’s about making every minute of your workout count.

For those new to fitness or worried about getting injured, a personal trainer is an invaluable asset. They will teach you proper form and technique, giving immediate feedback to correct your posture and ensure every movement is precise. If you have any existing injuries or medical conditions, be sure to mention them so you can be matched with an appropriately qualified trainer who understands your needs.

What certifications and qualifications should I look for?

A reputable trainer must be certified. Look for certifications from accredited organizations. The most respected in the US are:

  • NASM (National Academy of Sports Medicine)

  • ACE (American Council on Exercise)

  • ACSM (American College of Sports Medicine)

  • NSCA (National Strength and Conditioning Association) - particularly the CSCS (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist) for athletes.

How often should I have PT sessions?

The answer really depends on your budget and goals. Some people will see their personal trainer once a week to stay accountable, supplementing those sessions with runs in the park or classes at their favorite studio. Others, aiming for a major transformation, will train with the support of a coach for every single workout. Specifying your ideal frequency and schedule will help you find the right personal trainer for you.

How do you help your clients achieve their fitness goals?

I listen to each person as to what their goals are, what they enjoy doing, what the hate doing, injuries, mistakes in past. I treat each person as a separate entity. There is no ONE FOR ALL in my philosophy of training as each person is on their own journey of fitness and my job is to help them reach whatever their INDIVIDUAL goal may be.

What do you love most about your job?

I love being able to help people. When people see their clothes fitting better, the pounds on the scale go down, their mental health improve. Things like everyday tasks that get easier. (i.e.- running after kids, cleaning, running to the bus or subway, going up steps, improvement in different sports and all other aspects of life) I love to have a positive attitude and try to spread my positivity along to others.. while nicely kicking their butts to help them reach their goals.

What inspired you to start your own business?

I have always had some kind of my own business since I was a kid. whether it was candy making, doing nails, selling designed sweatshirts etc I always had an entrepreneur edge about me. After having my second child I decided I was going to start doing my personal training as a full time job and not have it be my moonlighting job any longer. It gives me the ability to be around for my family but at the same time still have a job that I love to go to everyday! I feel very fortunate as not everyone can say they really enjoy what they do for a living!

Why should our clients choose you?

I think I am a good fit for many people as i specialize in many different demographics. I also actually listen when people tell me what they are looking to achieve and I write each individual workout with what they tell me in mind. Also my workouts are ALWAYS different. You will NEVER get bored as they are NEVER the same. I always try to make it as F-U-N as I can!

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.

Yes, I do lots of ZOOM, FaceTime or whatever platform works for you.
I also do lots of ZOOM classes online so if you train with me you can join those classes as well!
