The best thing I ever did was begin training with Mindful Rebel (Joan)! I have never gotten results like this from any other trainer! I'm overjoyed to have such a skilled and compassionate trainer in my corner. Can't recommend her more!!! More...

Joan has fundamentally changed my life in every conceivable way, this has gone far beyond any expectation I had of a personal trainer! I've been working with Joan since march of 2023, and despite it being such a short period of time, I've made changes to my body, my lifestyle, my abilities, my pain levels that feel PERMANENT. I feel like for the first time in my life, I have a full handle on HEALTHY habits.

To have asked me to workout 4 days a week with absolute pleasure a year ago would've been an impossible ask of me but Joan taught me how to juggle a very busy work life, 2 kids, a full time job (i'm an attorney so.. talk about busy!!) and also taking care of MYSELF.

If you think you don't have time.. you TOTALLY do, just let Joan show you the uncomfortable but honest and do-able truth. She will find a way for you. She is realistic, kind and super smart. She is worth the investment!!!

I’ve been working with Joan for about 8 months now. I’ve had the most excellent experience working with her! Her studio is BEAUTIFUL and filled with all my dream equipment that I was always afraid to experiment with!

Joan has taught me how to lift weights the right way, she’s given me a sense of freedom and worry free movement to accommodate my busy life. She supports me when I get discouraged or down on myself, she’s helped flip the narrative I’ve always told myself, she’s helped me break the cycle of my difficulties. She’s a 10/10 trainer!

Joan has been instrumental in creating structure in my extremely hectic life. I finally feel strong and comfortable in my body. I’ve gone through 7 trainers and she’s the first one who makes me feel seen and heard. She validates my experiences and teaches me how to work through them.

Joan is the highest quality trainer I’ve ever come across. The experience she’s created for me is a perfect balance of an excellent workout structure, education and accountability. I was attracted to Joan's Studio because of her holistic and intellectual approach to fitness/movement. My idea of personal trainers before going there was that they were pumped up drill sergeants who were just waiting to yell at you, which is mostly what I had in the past and hated it. My experience with her was anything but that.

Her studio is absolutely stunning, large, filled with light and warmth. Her style is nurturing, caring, but still incredibly motivating in a sustainable way. I have had many trainers in my life who took one look at me and got instantly frustrated at what they couldn't figure out. My experience at MRS was quite the opposite, Joan considers difficult cases a puzzle to figure out. She has the knowledge of a brilliant physical therapist and veteran trainer, the warmth of a therapist, and the encouraging style of a yoga teacher.

On the technical side, she is NEVER late, always readily answers questions and is very clear about expectations. She knows how to run a business. Trusting her with my whole self was the best thing I ever did, it's a one-stop shop.

Training with Joan has been a lift altering experience. I approached her with a lot of hesitancy as I haven't had the greatest of experiences with trainers in the past. They were inattentive, under-educated and generally didn't care about my well-being as much as I thought they would. Having a trainer is an investment, and I understand the pricing is on the highest end... but with Joan, it's worth every dollar, if anything, she deserves more.

The day we meet, she spent 90 minutes just getting to know, figuring out what I need, getting all the possible data she would need to actually help me. I immediately felt comfortable and safe in her hands. She was warm, told me stories that were real and genuine, she talked to me like we hadn't just met, it felt like I was in the right hands, despite my hesitancy.

Now after a year together ,she asked me for a review, so here I am, giving my honest opinion that almost anything you could need or want, she can give. She's wildly intelligent, has a million tricks up her sleeve, is a VERY good teacher and actually explains things in ways my non-fitness oriented mind totally understands. She helped me find my strength, got me out of the weird aches and pains I had that NO physical therapist could figure out. I feel like I can actually take a deep breathe, i can lift my kids without freaking out i''ll throw out my back. She is your girl.

I started working out with Joan in early June. She has a space that is super open and clean and filled to the brim with all sorts of equipment i've never had the courage to even try by myself! ! I expressed interested in wanting to get strong like I was in my younger years and that, she delivered. Personal Trainers

Joan has been instrumental during this pandemic. She took me on having only spoken to me on the phone, having desperate need for someone to push me hard during these crazy times. I've been working with her for 4 months now and I'm nothing short of astonished as to how wonderful this experience as been with her. I've lost 10 pounds, I've learned incredibly valuable information, and I can lift my bodyweight off the floor!!! I feel strong, happy and like I can enter Summer without hesitating to put on shorts. Joan is absolutely phenomenal. Joan trained my wife for over a year and I was so happy to see my wife regain joy and comfort in her own skin, i felt it was time to give it a shot. I'm a runner and so, I was a little hesitant to begin strength training however, I can't even tell you how wrong I was. My running is no longer uncomfortable, I'm SO much stronger overall, I'm leaner, and happier in my own skin too.

If you're hesitant, don't be. She will make you feel so incredibly comfortable, happy and challanged. She will teach you something you didn't know every single time you meet with her.

I found Joan through a colleague who has been training with Joan for 3 years. My colleague raves about training at least once a week and after finally wearing me down, I reached out to her.

I was pretty hesitant at first, simply because I didn't think I needed a trainer but... yeah I was pretty wrong about that lol. If you're the type to either hit the gym and elliptical your life away, OR, go in without any sort of plan, you need a trainer. I was a little bit of both but wow how things have changed.

The experience has been like no other. Joan is honestly the best. She's not ordinary, you can absolutely feel the deeply rooted passion and love for her work. I'm so impressed with her and how effective her programs are, how down to earth she is, and how she manages to do so much as a solo business owner. I am beyond satisfied with her as a coach, teacher and quality of training. I'm stronger, leaner, and so much happier. Do not hesitate to reach out, seriously!!!

I wish I could rate 6 stars! I've had so many trainers throughout years and Joan is the best. She is very professional and knowledgeable. Her knowledge doesn't end with a certification, she actually studied in this major and she is a kick ass athlete herself. She is very flexible and her true goal is to help you achieve your goals.
I've waited to write this review after two months of training with her to give an honest feedback and she continues to impress me.

We begin with a general consultation in which we sit and chat about your movement and medical history, your goals, your current state and where you seek to be. My goal is find your goal, then provide you with the tools, support and education to guide you in the right direction.

My focus is sustainability, attention to detail and feeling the appreciation of gaining strength in a long term and careful manner. True, sustainable progress is a commitment to a change in lifestyle that is gradual but noticeable enough to feel daily.

My approach is comprehensive, I combine a conglomerate of systems to provide you without the tools you’ll keep forever in your toolbox. I teach, I support, I help in every way possible to ultimately give you confidence to move freely on your own, to remove any fears or preconceived notions that may have once lived in your body and mind.

This is an interesting question as I firmly believe aesthetics are a byproduct of enjoying the exercise you choose to do.

Indeed, aesthetics and getting the body of your dreams are goals for many of us however, do not let that be the most important aspect of your training. We are blessed with bodies filled with intelligence we have yet to fully understand.

Truthfully there is no secret, the physical manifestation of loving your body comes with knowing your are beautiful as you are now, and whatever physical attribute you seek to achieve lies in patience, genuine hard work, and knowing there are no secrets. Showing up, giving your time and trust, is honestly the recipe you’re looking for.

Personally, it is the combination of teaching my love of movement and promoting strength to the general population. Many of us have been taught misinformation aid pseudo-science and so I I seek to instill a sense of questioning things that may have been accepted as universal truths, I seek to teach women (and men!) to not fear the barbell or dumbbells, I seek to be a guide in the new wave of fitness.

I love hearing how clients start to notice things they’ve never felt before, to know that they’ve trusted me enough to keep moving forward even if progress is slow, even if the upwards moving graph of strength sometimes wavers (such is life). It is in these moments I know I am doing exactly what I should be and that my experience and education mean nothing without the trust gifted to me by my students and clients.

Working for globo type gyms in the past (and answering to a fitness manager) was what gave me the confidence to become an independent trainer.

Those facilities are unfortunately more about sales and numbers instead of the people. They follow rigid protocols that take away from the true goal of personal training. I had reached a point of feeling uncomfortable being pushed to “sell more” and gaining clients simply to feed numbers into a corporate system instead of focusing on the ones I already have.

I have since created my personal brand and answer to no one but science and myself and my mentors. It has been a gift.

Choosing me is not something I ever want to force upon anyone, it is up to you to consider me as your trainer and coach.

I will tell you now, I am in love with what I do. After ten years, it is still all I live and breath. I am confident in my knowledge, but am also sure I will never be done learning, I will never be the the all knowing being of any modality as honestly no one is, I will always wake up hungry to teach and learn every day.

My promise to you is that I will give you my absolute best, I will be here to answer any questions you will ever have, I will admit when I don’t know the answer, I will create the most detailed but understandable individualized program that works for you and you only.

The more mobile a person is, the more they are able to maximize their movement potential safely, efficiently, and effectively. While improving mobility and movement potential, my system also acts to ‘bullet proof’ (or safe-guard) your joints so that movement can be executed safely.

This training improves the function of your nervous system. This leads to a reduction of pain and injury, joint health and longevity, as well as an increased ability to move freely and easily.
