‘21 Certificate of Excellence

Thank you for checking out my profile, I appreciate your interest! I studied design in Los Angeles and London and have designed interior and exterior spaces across a huge variety of projects. I’m very lucky to be able to say that I love what I do – the whole design process – and I make it enjoyable for you while taking the time to make each and every job a success. As I’m self-employed I’m able to keep my overheads low as well as my fees without losing focus on any detail. I offer a complimentary phone consultation so we can exchange questions, talk through ideas, specific requests you may have, family needs, personal style, discuss a budget, and timeline that works for you. You’ll come away with a good idea of who I am and how I work so you can decide whether you think we’re a good fit. If you wish to hire me, my design process over the last 7 years of working full time in the industry has been honed in to get to the heart of what you’re looking for - even if you’re not currently able to describe it! Whether you want a whole home designed, or specific rooms, if we’re starting with a blank canvas or you have furniture and furnishings already, or perhaps you’re just looking for a specific piece of art or a color consultation, I’m happy to work with you on what you need. My designs cover most bases: modern, transitional, casual, eclectic, natural, contemporary, southwestern, bohemian, funky, I've worked in all of them and consider each job a unique and totally enjoyable challenge. I'm currently designing a home in Boho Islamic and love the opportunity of working in niche areas. Please check out my website for a wider variety of photos and more details rubyinteriordesigns.com I’m very good at maximizing the space you have which may include suggesting new ways to lay out furniture (whether existing or new), utilizing the nooks and crannies, kids bedrooms, creating office areas, and if you have outdoor space, I love extending your décor to create a larger living footprint. Creating the heart and soul of a home is what I do and I hope we can chat about yours!

What’s your interior design process?

It starts with a complimentary phone or video chat so I can understand what you're looking for, style ideas you have, whether I'm designing around existing furniture, any color preferences, etc. After our initial conversation, I'll email suggestions and questions to dig deeper with more specific information and then present a mood board. (Please see my images to see how a mood board transforms into a room).

For designing rooms from scratch, or with the client's furniture, I determine what the overall goal is which can vary greatly depending on what the client wants. Whether it's advising on paint colors, artwork, rugs, throws, pillows, accessories ... identifying a standout piece whether it's something the client already has or items I would suggest, is often top of the list as it can make or break a room.

Which interior design styles can you cater for?

I'm pretty eclectic. Right now I'm designing a contemporary living and dining room, a high end bachelor pad with office area, and a Hobbit based living room!

If a client wants a natural feel, I design around that. Same with casual, contemporary, transitional, bohemian, etc. I like to add a certain twist somewhere in the room - whether it's an unexpected texture or a striking piece of art, I want it to be a talking point, and unique.

Being totally honest, I prefer to stay away from coastal / Hamptons and high end formal. My designs are too warm for those styles.

What do you love most about your job?

I'm a creative and love being able to use my creativity as my career. As every client is different, I also really enjoy the challenge of understanding what they want and making that come to life.

I also love working with people and creating a design they absolutely love. If my first mood board doesn't completely capture the client's vision, I work on it until it does. The client always has the final say! :)

What inspired you to start your own business?

As well as interior design, I do a lot of staging for realtors. Over the years I've had so many comments from people who view the properties I stage regarding my designs, how they stand out, are unique compared to corporate stagers, that I opened up my business to interior design. Best decision I've ever made!

Why should our clients choose you?

Awkward question! Because I'm really good at what I do.

I'm open minded, easy to work with, I have a sense of humor, and will keep working on a project until everyone is as excited about it as I am.

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.

I prefer working with my clients remotely. Since February the majority of my work, either booked here or directly through my website, has been remote which is a complete flip prior to that. I've not had any problems being able to deliver what my clients have asked for and none have been unsatisfied with the work.

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?

When I do local work, which is only @30% of my bookings now, I mask and ask the same from them. My biggest change is to provide the exact same design services via remote work.
