We hired Scheer Design to work with us on the remodel design of our patio and kitchen. She helped us to convert our backyard, which consisted of grassy areas and a large fallow garden area to a beautiful outdoor space that includes a patio with complete amenities, "living room" area, dining area, gas grill, heaters, pergola and shades; along with a large garden area with raised beds. We then moved inside where she turned our old claustrophobic dysfunctional kitchen into a fantastic work space that supports all our needs. From the very first meeting with Tanya to the completion, she was a pleasure to work with. She focuses on getting to know the client and designing a space that supports who you are and how you live. We love the work she did for us. I have recommended her to friends or colleagues repeatedly since she did the work for us. More...

We two found ourselves renovating an architecturally designed mid-century modern home. WE found Tanya through our contractor, and we are so glad we did as both our sensibilities were more traditional in scope. In other words, we had no love or experience in the modern style. Tanya guided us through every detail which, as we chose along the way, became our own style. With Tanya's guidance and patience, we were able to combine the eclectic with our new mid-century modern vision to create a beautiful new environment which is now our home. Tanya helped us visualize each space by her beautiful drawings. Her attention to detail is amazing and her transparent billing for items is a big help for those on a budget. She also has great communication skills. We would definitely use her again, but I don't think we'll ever move now! More...

Q&As

While designing a space for a client, I create a minimum of two mood boards. A mood board is a visual representation of the desired style, ambiance, and color scheme of the space. It includes images of furniture, fabrics, textures, and colors that I have selected for the project. My client can now have a better understanding of my vision for the space and it ensures that both parties are on the same page before my work begins.

I also conduct a thorough analysis of the space's functionality. This involves evaluating the client's needs and requirements for the space, such as how it will be used, who will be using it, and what activities will take place there. This is followed by a layout that maximizes the space's potential and ensures that it meets all of my client's needs.

Finally, I often use lighting as a key element in my designs. I analyze the natural light sources in the space and determine how to enhance them with artificial lighting. This involves selecting light fixtures that complement the design style and provide adequate illumination for different areas of the room.

Overall, these methods are just a few examples of how I approach my work with clients. By combining creativity with functionality, I am able to create beautiful and practical spaces that meet my clients' needs and exceed their expectations.

I love and have such deep respect for so many design styles throughout history; modern, midcentury modern, coastal, minimalist, art deco, rustic, industrial, and boho. I've been doing this for a long time. Ha!

My clients. Hands down. 100%. There is nothing like watching my clients dance around excited when collaborating with me, and it's even better to see their faces when surprised upon completion. The best!

I was born in Spain, lived in North Africa, and Germany, then moved to the US and have never stopped taking trips to new unseen places. I've always loved architecture, and I'm sure I got that from my father and the creation of a beautiful space from my mother who was a painter. But traveling is the best for me. It exposes me to a wide variety of design styles and techniques, which I have learned to incorporate into my own work. It might be colors, patterns, and textures of a particular culture, or by the way that people in different parts of the world use space.

When I got back from New Orleans this summer I was drawn to certain colors on colors because of how they paint their homes and businesses so brightly and absolutely so unique to only New Orleans. I found my aesthetic more interested in how the small details can make such big statements.

I must say that I'm still always making sure I'm creating something not only beautiful but also functional. I think deeply about how my clients will use the space, and how I can make it as comfortable and practical as possible. This requires an understanding of ergonomics, lighting, and other technical aspects I've acquired.

As a designer, I stand out as the best choice for clients who want the most knowledgeable and experienced professional who pays the closest attention to details for my client. I believe it's all in the details. My years of experience in the field have given me a deep understanding of design principles, techniques, and trends. This knowledge enables me to create designs that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also functional and effective.

Moreover, I am highly skilled in working with clients to understand their unique needs and preferences. I take the time to listen to my clients' ideas and goals, and then use my expertise to turn those ideas into reality. I am committed to delivering exceptional results that exceed my clients' expectations.

I offer a combination of expertise, experience, and attention to detail that is unmatched in the industry. With me on board, clients can rest assured that their design needs will be met with precision and creativity.

Absolutely! I was doing that before Covid actually. So that is quite my comfort zone. All I need is footage, take pictures and videos for example, and MEASUREMENTS. Measurements are so key. You could really create a problem if you're on a tight deadline and the sofa won't fit through the door. I learned that years ago through another designer I was working with.

I went bonkers with masks, keeping distance, designing from my home. When working on jobs I had disinfectant on me constantly. I did this for all of us collaborating.
