The Melange Coach

Many people wonder why I went from an Accounting background to Counselling but that is because they are unaware of my need I have had from a young age to help people. In High School, I attended an extra curriculum called Life Course that dealt with counselling and listening. Over the years my heart kept going back to wanting to complete my counselling degree and I finally did. Personal life experiences have also guided me to know that life doesn't give you a manual but counsellors are there to assist you in helping through the mountains you climb. I hope I can be that person now for someone that guides them through when a manual to life is not available.

What do you love most about your job?

The ability to help people negotiate their understanding of a situation. Life does not give one a manual to work through situations and I feel counselling is a form of guidance to do exactly that. Today, people are also very busy and the mental challenges are great. Social media makes it easy to say the wrong things to one another and be judged. I hope to guide someone through how to deal with their life circumstances.

What inspired you to start your own business?

My own life experiences is what helped me go into counselling. My friend once said she didn't want to see a counsellor after her mom passed as most counsellor's wouldn't understand. When she finally tried counselling, she realised how beneficial it was. This gave me further indication how important talking about trauma is. I have now been given an opportunity to focus on counselling full time and want to get into helping people as soon as possible, to help guide them through life.

Why should our clients choose you?

I believe that everyone should be comfortable with who they share their most intimate thoughts and feelings with. I generally like to do an introduction meeting where they can get to know me and see if they are comfortable with me. I also would love to counsel a variety of cultures to get to know and learn about everyone.

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.

Yes, I try and accommodate as much as possible the client's needs and their time. Therefore, I am open to negotiate the time reasonable for them. This is also why I would love to extend my services to even international clients or South Africans living abroad. Please feel free to contact me for an introductory meeting.

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?

I am mainly trying to do online counselling as I feel someone can sit in their own space where they are comfortable and talk about themselves. This will be my main offering for now, however, when it comes to clients that I can extend a personal visit to, we will discuss the most comfortable space for them and how to approach this from a Covid perspective.
