I tutor children online that are struggling to learn to read and spell, usually due to dyslexia. I use the Susan Barton Reading and Spelling program. This program gets excellent results!

What do you love most about your job?

My students usually come to me with very low self esteem and are confused about why their peers are learning to read and they are not. With the help of this program their self esteem is restored as the student starts learning to read. It is so fulfilling to see these children blossom!

What inspired you to start your own business?

I retired as a Reading Interventionist and prior to that I taught kindergarten for 16 years. My favorite part about being a kindergarten teacher was that I was the first to teach those little ones how to read. I loved it so much I became a Reading Interventionist and taught reading all day. Once I retired, I started my own business tutoring children who were struggling with learning to read. I love to read and I can't imagine not being able to read and enjoy a good book!

Why should our clients choose you?

I think my clients mainly choose me because of my experience and expertise in my field. I know how to get my students reading.

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.

I can teach anywhere in the United States because I teach online using zoom and whizzimo, which has all my teaching materials for teaching the Barton program. The program is very interactive and I have many games that reinforce the concepts I'm teaching.

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?

In order to keep my students safe from Covid-19, I teach online.

I can only describe them in a 3 word, patience, understanding and helpful, so far so good. Thank you to Maggie. And I am waiting for my kids grade to be updated.

. Scott is well educated and has a vast wealth of life experiences. More importantly for this field of work, he’s a good listener, patient and nonjudgmental. Never telling you what you should do but rather posing the questions one needs to ponder in order to consider changes that should be made. Asking the sometimes difficult questions that make you really think about what you want out of life, out of the dating scene or your education or whatever it is you might be struggling with. Perhaps even things you didn’t realize you were struggling with. I highly recommend giving him a try and if you’re truly open to l my asking change in your life, Scott can help facilitate it with you.

Scott brings life coaching into a bigger universe than most people imagine. He has a clear and practical perspective, but what makes him unique, and very valuable as an advisor, guide and friend, is the deep well of knowledge he draws on in thinking about human life. Can he address day to day practicalities? Yes. Can he address productivity and its blockages and help liberate your creative side. Yes. Can most life coaches draw on European history and philosophy and centuries of exploration about what it means to be human? Well, not usually. Can they see human values and ideas of “the good life” and of relationships through the lens of another culture and its language? Scott can. Why does this matter? Because in daily life and upbringing we receive messages over and over that shape our sense of what is possible. These define our perceived choices. Such life scripts may feel absolute, but they are not. Scott has the experience to understand many kinds of life possibilities and he brings warmth, insight, and encouragement to human relationships. He is well suited to open new paths with you and help you explore them, to help you find a larger way to live.
