Choose a building contractor

You might be looking to build your dream home, or need a builder to help with a renovation. Whatever it is you require, use Bark to get free quotes and review individual sellers. We enable you to make an informed decision when hiring your builder.

Improving your property

Increasing value

Perhaps you’re looking to increase the value of your property prior to selling, or are planning for the future. With a wide range of skill sets, a general builder will be able to help with all kinds of tasks. Whether it’s building new partition walls, plastering, laying new foundations for an extension, or making repairs. Extending or renovating a home will often increase the value of the property over and above the initial investment. It’s a great way to make your assets work as hard as possible for you.

Property maintenance

As buildings age, they require regular maintenance to keep them functioning properly. Perhaps you have a leak which requires a building contractor to fix, or you have a floor that needs replacing. General builders can be really useful when looking to maintain a property. Landlords will often work with a single company so that they understand the requirements, expectations, and methods of working. Even if you only need maintenance on a single property, finding a reliable builder can greatly increase the efficiency of your projects.

Professional advice

Professional building contractors will be able to provide advice on your construction project, timeframes, and how to manage the project correctly. Work with your general builder to understand what materials are best for the project, or what building regulations need to be met. Getting best practice advice from a professional applies to both new builds, as well as renovation projects. You might be developing a new section of your home, or looking to fix some unresolved issues with your current home. No matter what your project entails, it’s important to ensure that any designs or plans are vetted by a professional builder.

What type of projects do you work on?

We have two separate teams. One works on major renovation or new build projects. These tend to be families who want to make large changes to their existing home. The second team are focussed purely on maintaining property portfolios. We work with a number of landlords with large property portfolios which need constant attention.

Why should clients use you?

We manage the whole project. For individuals or families, building works can be a big investment. When they’ve got their own jobs already, they need someone to take charge of their project and deliver it to the required standard. The majority of our teams are full-time, and we even bring in specialists depending on the job. The main feedback we receive is that we greatly reduce the stress of a building project. It’s great to hear because we love working with people who trust us to complete everything on time and to budget.

How should people prepare for the project?

Our projects vary tremendously. As a general building contractor, we work with just about everything – they can also be small or big jobs. As a general rule, we’d recommend clearing the area as best you can. You should definitely remove any fragile objects from the rooms and corridors to prevent any accidental damage. We do everything we can to reduce dust, dispose of waste, and keep the property clean. However, some jobs do require the use of a lot of machinery and tools, which aren’t great around fragile items! If you can’t remove them before the start of the project, we will usually help you remove them ourselves.
