JP Maths Tutoring

Hello! My name is Jordan. I am 23 years old, and currently working full-time as a private maths tutor. I am also in the process of growing JP Maths, my own tutoring business! For the past ten years, studying maths has been a huge part of my life. In fact, by this point, I think it is safe to say that maths has pretty much become a part of my identity… However, I absolutely love the subject and am super happy to be able to communicate it with others daily! I graduated in 2021 with a degree in mathematics from the University of Bath. However, I started tutoring maths when I finished my own GCSEs back in 2015. When I was 16 years old, my enthusiasm for mathematics led me to successfully complete a full maths A-Level independently alongside my GCSEs 2 years early after teaching myself the content from the age of 13. I then started tutoring GCSE and A Level maths to a few students in my local area for fun and as a bit of experience communicating maths to others. When I was in my second year of university, I decided to start tutoring again alongside my studies, and since graduating, I have been tutoring full time. I have now delivered over 500 tutoring sessions and have, most importantly, learnt an extensive amount about tutoring maths. I have also gained familiarity with each of the different exam boards, developed a bank of resources, and worked with various ages and abilities. I have also worked in a primary school, a local tuition centre, and a summer school for international students. I really enjoy working with young people and I hope to continue to do so in the future.

What do you love most about your job?

I love working with students and seeing their confidence in maths grow week by week! I also enjoy finding new ways to communicate maths to students.

What inspired you to start your own business?

I love maths and communicating it with others but did not want to work in a school. I like having a flexible routine and being able to do other things alongside. I also love managing my own business- it feels like one big project!

Why should our clients choose you?

I am friendly and very passionate and knowledgeable about maths! I have been tutoring maths now for over five years and so have a great knowledge of how to tutor a range of different ages and abilities. I also create my own resources, which are to a high standard.

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.

Yes! Most of my tutoring sessions actually take place online to save me time in travelling to different students' houses. It also enables me to tutor people from a wider geographic area. A lot of people are hesitant to try online tutoring, but after a trial, they are surprised just by how well it works. Remote sessions take place over zoom and am able to offer a trial zoom lesson if you are interested.

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?

All lessons can be taken place online if necessary.
