I founded HHD because I believe the industry needs a fresh design perspective, a holistically healthy & harmonious approach, and a respectful foundation for all designer-client relationships. As an Interior Designer, I envision how a house can be exponentially improved into a beautiful home and relish in the opportunity to support my clients take the steps to make those changes. Interior Design is a delicate balance of a family’s diverse style preferences, my personal artistic expression, the needs of the family who yearns to enjoy their home, and a symbiotic partnership built on mutual respect and trust.
First, I welcome and get acquainted with my client and listen, listen, listen, and ask pointed questions to help me understand the DNA of my client's needs, vision and project parameters. I also answer any and all questions that naturally arise. Secondly, I either gather onsite or request remote: clear pictures, videos and accurate dimensions. Based my collection of these details, I gain inspiration and direction, establishing a concept that remains the cornerstone of all my design decisions. I then put together a design development presentation which includes floor plans, furniture plans, interior elevations, mood board, furniture boards and possibly 3-D sketch renders to help my client understand. Once I receive feedback on this direction, I send a solidified spreadsheet of every single selection I have sourced and specify all pertinent information for purchasing these products. I design and make selections for flooring- wall, countertop, cabinetry, ceiling finishes/treatments and furniture- sofas, beds, benches, tables, chairs, shelving including built ins as well as equipment- major appliances, small appliances, play structures, fireplaces, firepits, lighting fixtures, faucets, shower heads, handles, pulls, bathtubs, toilets, fans and finally, accessories- accent rugs, accent tables, nightstands, toys, plants, décor, bedding.
I only serve Contemporary design clients, specifically: Mid-Century Modern, Farmhouse, Shaker, Shabby-Chic, Wabi Sabi, Industrial, Eclectic, Retro, Minimalist, Maximalist and Vintage styles. I choose not do accept any classic/traditional/ornate or transitional design clients as this is neither my area of interest or expertise.
