Quite fascinating place -- covers a great deal of Dayton, Ohio area history from the first pioneers to the age of aviation and the automobile. You can see log cabins, early frame homes, conastoga wagons, stage coaches, the Wright bicycle shop, the Wright B Flyer, train cars (Barney and Smith RR cars were built here), a Corliss engine, early automobiles, a huge collection of cash registers (some are amazing!) and early sports in Dayton (first football team in the NFL). This is also a great place to visit if you come to Dayton to see the Air Force Museum or if you come for the amateur radio Hamvention. In addition, there are outdoor carillon bell concerts, and small steam trains for the kids -- call ahead for scheduled events. There is a great restaurant, gift shop and easy parking on site.Much is outdoors, so dress warm in cold weather.Allow at least four hours -- more if you take the Hawthorn Hill, Wright Brothers' house tour (1 1/2 hours, call ahead for reservations). We loved the park.

So here's the deal: Flyby BBQ is owned by a current OSU student, David Butcher, and he's taking BBQ in a whole new direction. Don't get me wrong, I love a dark hole in the wall BBQ joint. But this is not one of those places. Flyby is a truck that's approaching an old-school food in a modern, fast-casual way. The truck and all the branding are clean and bright. The menu is simple and full of from-scratch items. You pick: a sandwich, a rice bowl, or a meat tray. Next up, choose a meat (or barbecued jackfruit!), toppings or sides, and sauce. For my first visit, I had a rice bowl with chicken, all the veggies, tangy Kansas City sauce, and a side of brisket baked beans. Everything was absolutely delicious! And while BBQ is such a comfort food, this experience felt familiar but brand new at the same time. The meat was perfectly smoked, the veggies were fresh, and the sauce... oh man... That's my biggest gripe about being a Southern transplant up in the Midwest -- BBQ sauces here are so thick and sweet. I tried all of Flyby's sauces, and they were all winners. The KC sauce is thin, tangy, and a little spicy -- exactly how I like it. The family behind Flyby is incredibly talented and super friendly. I'm excited for the truck to start making its way to Columbus! Until then, you can find them in Fairborn in a parking lot. Sooo, maybe make yourself a little picnic?

While driving home in the evening, I stopped at McAlister's to get a drink, about 30 minutes before they closed. I was really craving some unsweetened tea. After paying, the cashier realized that the unsweetened tea canisters were empty, but they still had sweet tea. They offered to brew a fresh unsweetened tea mentioning it would take about 10 minutes. It was worth it! Fresh tea and happy service!

Vanessa is great to work with! She walked me through everything I needed to know organizing my first Food Truck Rally! Not only was she great to work with, she organized incredible Food Trucks who were just as great to work with as she is, and the crowd LOVED them! Thanks Vanessa! You're a rock star! And DFA- thank you too! I look forward to working with you again!
How much does a Caterer cost?
Your expert caterer will be able to advise you on the most suitable menus and service.
What should I look for when choosing a Caterer?
It is important to know the following before deciding on a catering company:
Event Specialists - Many caterers handle certain types of events on a regular basis, such as weddings and corporate events.
Different cuisines - Caterers might specialise in different kinds of cuisine. Some caterers may provide a fine dining experience while others excel at barbecues that suit company picnics.
Special requirements - If you have special requirements for the food or a specific menu in mind make sure your caterer is happy to meet those requirements.
Venue - Your gathering might be taking place at someone’s home, a venue or outdoors. It can be helpful if your caterer has worked at the venue before.
Tastings - Ask for a tasting to make sure the food is of a high standard. Most caterers will prepare one for you at no charge, allowing you to assess the quality of their cooking before you hire them.
How do I check a Catering Company’s credentials?
You could look for caterers with a foundation degree, higher national diploma or degree in Professional Cookery and Culinary Arts.
Before you choose a caterer, you could read testimonials and see pictures of their food on their website.
You could also look at their profile page on Bark and read reviews from past customers, too.
