As a photographer of over 40 years experience, though only recently turned professional following a career in teaching, I can provide a full range of photographic services including weddings, proms, portraiture, babies, families and children, pets and events. I can also undertake corporate and product work. I always edit my work to ensure that the photographs delivered to the client are of the highest quality and I am able to provide photographs that match the client's requirements including retouching and photo-manipulation. I use a reputable photo-processing laboratory for all printing and albums and photographs can be presented in a wide range of formats. I also have a website, www.spectralwavesphotography.com where clients' albums can be viewed and photographs downloaded if required. I understand how important memories are for people and what a critical role photographs can play and as such I take on my responsibilities as a photographer with the same gravitas with which I approached teaching. Having said that, it is more often the case that photographs are a record of happy occasions and I and I always work closely with clients to ensure everyone is at ease and is able to look their best for the photographs. I'm not a big fan of the "formal photograph" but if that is what the client wants, I am happy to oblige. I have mobile studio facilities including studio lighting and backdrops and so I am able to photograph in clients' homes and this is invariably the case when photographing children and babies. I am also happy to photograph on location.

I love capturing moments and seeing the smile on the faces of those whose images I have captured. I love the satisfaction of doing a good job and taking a good photograph (even if it's just for myself) and I love the challenge of tackling each new assignment.
I have been taking photographs for over 40 years. When I started, I took black and white photographs on film and developed and printed them myself. I also developed slide film. Thirty years ago, I began a long and successful teaching career and retired from teaching in 2017. However, I feel I am much to young to stop contributing completely and saw this an opportunity to really pursue the interest in photography that I have had for so long. I have grasped the "digital age" with both hands and am skilled in digital manipulation of photographs but the foundations laid down all those years ago in my make-shift dark room ensure that the work I do now is high quality.
In terms of starting my own business, I have much more control over the direction I take and whilst I realise that ultimately the client is in charge, I am able to use my own judgement more freely than may have been the case in my previous career.
Clients will get what they want. I will listen carefully to their requirements and employ my skills to ensure they get what they desire. I will take my responsibilities seriously though I believe I am able to make the client feel at ease and comfortable. I will be thoroughly organised and efficient and ensure that the client is communicated with regularly and they can be assured that the assignment will be well planned and carried out.
