From the initial contact we have been impressed by Camino's willingness to understand our needs as a diverse group of companies to consolidate policies, procedures, contracts and rewards without losing sight of the commercial aspects of our business. They have always started from the basis of what we want to achieve. They have talked with a wide range of staff about how the business operates to ensure that our new policies fit in with the realities of what we do rather than providing us with a one size fits all solution.
Camino are also helping us to deal with specific HR issues that have arisen and we have been impressed by their speed of response and the measured nature of the advice they give to try and ensure that the impact for the company and any individual concerned is dealt with fairly but in a pragmatic way. Timico have worked with Camino HR on a number of projects over the past year. Jane is a very commercially minded HR specialist, which helped with being able to provide us pragmatic advice.

I have also attended one of Jane's Workshops on Understanding and Managing Stress & Mental Health in the Workplace, which I would highly recommend.

We have used Camino HR since 2017 and have found the service that they provide to be hugely valuable. One of the initial tasks we utilised them for was to help with some company restructuring of roles and responsibilities which Jane completed in collaboration with us to great effect.

In our time with them they have always providing efficient and effective support which has made them effortless to deal with. The continued support they offer and the service level agreements we receive are excellent for our business.

HR can be a minefield especially when you don’t have much experience in it. But now it is not something I worry about. I know Camino will always be on email or at the end of the phone when I need them. Which when you have a HR issue you normally need an answer there and then.

I have dealt with Jane, Sophie and Rose at Camino who have each helped me in one way or another. I would be more than happy to recommend, in fact I would go out my way to do so.

I have worked closely with Jane, Sophie and the team at Camino for 7 years during a period our business turnover has doubled. Their contribution to that achievement cannot be understated. The Camino team have shown they are able to deal with all levels of HR support from being hands on with notetaking and letter drafting to reviewing company strategies and procedures. For me this has meant more of my time has been able to be spent focusing on our production KPI's. However, managing people is never without problems and sometimes relationships break down or people are not right for the job they are in. So it's also satisfying to support managers when problems do arise, and help them to deal with matters in the best, fairest and most sensible way.

I've been running my own business providing HR consultancy for over 25 years. It started as a means to work flexibly, doing work that I love whilst I brought up my children. Then, 15 years ago, we rebranded as Camino HR Ltd to make it a full-time business. Why Camino? The inspiration for the name came because I walked the last 100km of the Camino de Santiago in 2008, and it was a wonderful experience. Camino means Path or Way in Spanish. So Camino HR is your way to HR support when you need it.

Our service is friendly, personal and completely professional. Our team of 4 has a huge range of knowledge and experience gained within all sectors, and we have trusted associates that we can call on for specialist skills, such as Occupational Health, to make sure that our clients get the best service, no matter what aspect of HR they need support with.

Yes, whilst we do love to meet our clients face to face, most of what we do can be done via phone, email or Teams/Zoom meetings.

Services

We'll provide you with documents completely tailored to your business needs . We'll guide you on best practice, based on years of experience of working with different business types and solid knowledge of employment law. So long as you are in contract with us, we'll keep all your documentation up to date with legislative changes - and there is a lot of that happening over the coming 24 months!

The law requires you to issue terms and conditions on the first day of an employee or casual woker starting work.

We'll work with you to develop a set of template terms and conditions to suit your business and guide you on the difference between permanent and fixed term contracts, zero hours and flexible contracts, working with sub-contractors or people who are self-employed.

Most importantly, we'll help you to understand what you should make contractual and what is non-contractual and why that makes a difference.

The unexpected happens, your employee makes a request for shared parental leave, or flexible working, or taking time off to care for a dependent..

Ideally you'll already have policies and procedures that explain what their rights are and how the business will deal with such requests, but it's always good to run through it with us to be sure that you are doing things properly.

There is a lot of new legislation on the way over the coming 24 months, so contracting with us will make sure you are not taken by surprise!

Use as when you need guidance or support to handle difficult situations such as disciplinary matters, employee grievances, claims of bullying or harassment or other unwanted conduct.

We'll help you resolve such problems in the best possible way, making sure that all the employees involved are treated fairly and in line with employment legislation and that the supervisors and line managers are supported in the way they have to manage the situation.

We can also provide tailored workshops for your supervisory and line management staff in how to manage potentially difficult situations.

Sometimes workplace disputes or difficulties between two individuals are best resolved through mediation.

Mediation takes the problem out of the formal company disciplinary or grievance procedures and tries to assist all the parties involved in coming to an agreement or in finding a better way of working together.

It can be quite surprising to find that people who have been so wrapped in conflict can, with the support of the mediator, begin to talk to each other, understand each other’s point of view and find their own way to resolve the problem.

Talk to us if you'd like advice on the best way to deal with an employee who is seems to be frequently off, whether through sickness or for other reasons. It's better to deal with an attendance problem sooner rather than later.

We can help you put together an absence management policy and procedures and provide training for your supervisory and line management staff in how to use them. Our associate Occupational Health advisors are available for advice and guidance when necessary, particularly in cases of disability or long term sickness absence.

Organisations grow and change, as do the people working in them. Some organisations need a rigid structure, others work better by offering flexibility and by adapting the job roles to suit what the individuals can offer. We can help you to evaluate what you really need and to structure your jobs accordingly. With your workload well structured, we can help you to put in processes for reviewing performance and making changes from time to time, and mechanisms for managing poor performance if necessary. Through our associates we can offer you team profiling and coaching.

Larger organisations and growing businesses often need to take stock of their pay and benefit structures and make sure that they are fair and fit for purpose. We can help you to evaluate jobs and set up appropriate pay and benefit structures.

If your business has no internal HR, we can provide your fully outsourced HR service. We'll be your HR Partner and work with you pro-actively to manage your HR administration and day to day HR operations, as well as supporting you in the more complex or strategic HR matters.

All your employee data will be held to our Breathe HR software, which you and your employees will have access to. It is a secure way to store employee records and documents, request, authorise and record holidays and other absences, keep training and performance records and give your employees access to your HR policies, procedures and other useful company information. If you already have an HR software system, that can be used instead of Breathe, you'll just need to give us access to it.

Outsourced HR is a 12 month contract. We'll set up a service level agreement with you to set out what you need from us and how we'll work together. At the end of the 12 months it'll be up to you whether you want to continue with us, there is no long term tie in.

If you are wanting to implement HR or T&A software we can support with or project manage the analysis of business need to produce the specification, sourcing of suitable software for evaluation, user acceptance testing, implementation and training and the production of support documentation.

Our smaller clients can use Breathe HR software through us.

Only need occasional HR support? Perhaps you have your own internal HR team but they sometimes need additional guidance. Maybe you have an HR related project you need help with, or a one-off problem such as a disciplinary or grievance case to manage. Speak to us about the level of service that you need, and we can agree a package tailored for you.

If you believe, as we do, that your employees are your most important resource, then you will know that their health and wellbeing is important and that a happy, healthy workforce is good for your business.
We have tools, guidance, training and advice to help you with this, as well as being there to support you when difficult problems arise such as long term sickness, workplace stress or employment disputes.

For clients looking for great wellbeing benefits, we partner with HSF UK to provide our smaller clients (up to 100 employees) with better rates than they would be able to obtain themselves. This gives access to an Employee Assistance Programme, Health Care Cashback, Personal Accident Cover and Perkbox.

Our employment law knowledge and advice is invaluable, helping you to navigate each situation in the most effective, pragmatic and sensible way. We'll always explain the risks and benefits of the different options available to you, and guide your through the best way to manage each situation arising. Because we are not solicitors, our rates are considerably lower than if you were to use a legal firm and our advice is grounded in solid, real life understanding of the workplace. If, very rarely, we think you need to consult a solicitor, we will always let you know.
