Going into a new client and learning about their business!! Although I have been working as a bookkeeper for several years now I think it is very important to stay up to date with changes in legislation and improvements that may occur in the industry. Most recently I attended an IAgSA training course which covered the use and implementation of Xero & Quickbooks cloud accounting software, which I think is a real asset for clients who are thinking of taking the leap to cloud software before Making Tax Digital is implemented.

I have worked in the farming sector all of my life and I love being involved in Rural enterprise – along with the varied challenges that can bring! After taking over the accounts and bookkeeping for our own 650 acre Dairy, Beef & Arable farm, I decided that I could probably make use of my experience and knowledge by doing this for other clients. With 3 young children, going self-employed offered me the chance to work around family and farm, building up a successful business of my own. Its so nice when you can find a set up that works for your client and you.

I really care about the success of my clients business, and I enjoy having a good relationship with their accountant to produce the best result for them. I can offer flexibility when it comes to how often they need me, with monthly, fortnightly and weekly visits available. I pride myself on being able to see things from a business perspective, not just a rigid finance point of view.
