We hired Kate for day-of coordination for our "casual lawn party and tacos" wedding at our home in Cle Elum. We had been to a wedding she coordinated and were happy with what we saw. We consider ourselves DIY-ers, two laid back people that have background in hospitality and have thrown lots of parties for other people. We can def do this for ourselves? Right? With our small budget and pre-conceived notions of what throwing a wedding entailed, and then a meeting with Kate, we felt that day-of coordination would be just enough to let us enjoy our day without breaking the bank.
We expected structure, organization and guidance to map out the day of the wedding as well as a point of contact (so we wouldn't have to be) for vendors and guests. Did she meet our expectations? HELL YES! Kate not only typed up an extremely well thought out and organized day-of timeline, she gave us insight to things we would've never thought of and made the day so much easier because we did. She kept all of her appointments and followed through with promises and timelines. By the time our wedding day came, we felt so confident that we hadn't forgotten a thing. Did I mention she is super down to earth and realistic? We just LOVE HER! When she was sending us down the aisle, she said "This is my favorite part!" and we were proud everything fell into place just as she had helped us plan.
And then... the taco truck was late! Our main event was 2 hours late! Not to worry! Kate eased our pain, coached the MC on directing guests to drinks and games and kept us all up to date on food timing, all while checking in with the taco truck every 10-15 minutes to make sure they were on their way and she would make sure we all got our tacos! Scheduling was shuffled a bit but everything got done and then we drank and danced the night away. What could have been our ruin, was but a bump in the road, because of Kate's patience, persistence and grace.
We could not have done it without her. We wouldn't have been able to enjoy ourselves at our own party at all. Our only recommendation is to let her take care of the whole process for you. Just do it. Let her take the work, headache and stress out of the whole situation and not only will she love it (she made sure to let us know that lots of times) she will make it so much more fun for you. This is your day, don't forget that. Treat yourself to some Kate magic!
Other tidbits: I can't even begin to list all the things she helped us with, but here are a few: Setting up alter, table decor (she has little things to make it look so nice!), Welcome sign (hand drawn, so beautiful!), flowery details here and there, got us the first tacos out of the truck so we could eat, smiled often, hugged often, guided guests who wanted to help set-up/tear-down and generally kept order so we could drink and be merry.

I hired Navi to cater my wedding on 8/12/16. He and his team did an excellent job and the food was outstanding. Although there were some communications issues and he was late to the wedding, all things considered, I'd hire him again.How I learned about Navi was through Thumbtack.com. I was searching for a strong but affordable caterer for my wedding and didn't think it was possible due to the low budget we had. I submitted my request through Thumbtack and heard back from Navi the next day. He offered to meet with me and negotiate the price. Navi offered to come to my home and arrived in his executive chef jacket from his "day job" at a local hotel. He presented his ID and business license. Navi was warm and friendly. He asked what kind of food we wanted, and I said Italian. I told him the budget we had and how many people. He said he could give us penne with two sauces, caesar salad, chicken madeira, and garlic bread for 110 people with our low budget. I was amazed. He required a deposit and contract, of course. The remaining balance was due two weeks before the wedding, and we met at a coffee shop. We finalized details then.Navi hadn't been to the venue we used before and said he would go there in advance to check it out. He offered to provide ice for the drinks, which we were providing. I provided the dessert separately.We had our dinner buffet style, and we did all of the table set-up/teardown and provided our own dinnerware and glassware. Navi had professional chaffing dishes and set up the buffet so it was going on both sides of the table for speed and convenience.The food was really good, especially the sauce used for the chicken. The penne was simple pasta out of a box and boiled, not homemade, but the tomato sauce I had with it was good. The salad was excellent with the right amount of seasoning and fresh parmesan. I'm not a fan of garlic bread so I didn't eat any of that, but my guests told me everything was great. Many people got seconds and raved about the food. This was good food for what was expected.Navi told me that he would be at our wedding for 2 hours after dinner started so people could enjoy then he would clean up.My only critique is that Navi needs to improve on communication. I emailed items to Navi a couple of times during planning and didn't hear back. I had to text and ask for confirmation, and he told me he was having issues with his emails. Also, he forgot that in our first meeting, he was including chicken and I had to remind him in our second meeting when he gave me a printed menu and had forgotten it.The other thing I learned from my husband is that Navi and his team were 45 minutes late to the wedding. They busted it out to get everything set up in the nick of time and luckily, the catering was set up in the basement while all of the guests were on the main floor.Food: 4Service: 4
