I hate writing negative reviews but I feel responsible to warn other brides that I had a really disappointing and stressful experience with Melissa. Our first meeting and contract was proming, but she failed to deliver on many if the things we agreed to in writing. In addition, 2 days before our wedding, she sprung a surprise cost on us to hire her teenage son as an "assistant" for 5 hours of the day. We had agreed to hire him to help with daycare for 3 hours at her recommendation. She mentioned in passing that she wanted to train him to help with events so it would be helpful to have him there and assist her with other things. When she asked for twice the rate we agreed to for him, we told her that was not in the contract and had never been raised by her before. She admitted this and wrote "it was negligent on my part" and then apologized for not telling us the rate sooner, but insisted we pay him that rate or he would not provide childcare. So she sent us a new contract she wrote 2 days before the wedding. We didnt have the time or energy to find anyone else for childcare in the middle of our family wedding activities that already began so we just agreed to a new contract with her son as an "assistant" but we felt totally scammed. The day of the wedding, her first communication was that she needed us to venmo her the extra amount and "take care of that asap." At the wedding itself, she never even let us know when she arrived and we ended up doing most of the coordination with vendors. Things were incredibly awkward with her and her son. We still had a great wedding, but I wish we didn't have to go through the stress Melissa caused us. I hope to save anyone else this trouble by sharing this story! More...

We hired Mel very late in the game to help plan our wedding. She was very supportive, brought on great talent, and helped us to plan for and mitigate wedding anxieties.

My wife and I asked Mel to help plan our wedding. We asked VERY late in the game, only a few weeks prior to our date. Mel was very gracious, she met us on short notice and we immediately felt better and less stressed about our process. At every step of the way Mel communicated very clearly, recommended solid talent, and kept us sane during the ceremony. I am especially grateful for her attention to my wife. This young lady (Melissa Whitney of Little Blue Bird Events) came to my rescue at a time when I thought my world was falling apart. My father had recently passed away and my mom was lost as to what to do next. Being that I was 3000 miles away my daughter in law suggested I call Little Blue Bird Events. Knowing Melissa did weddings she thought maybe she would be open to taking on my father's Celebration of Life event or at least could point me in the right direction. Contacting her in mid-June with a July 23rd date I assumed it would not be promising. Wedding season was at an all-time high due to all the cancelled weddings of Covid so one could only imagine her availability would be nonexistent. Leaving a detailed message on her phone Melissa responded the same day. Asking for more details regarding my event she requested that I give her a few hours and she would see what she could do to help. Within 2 hours’ time this young lady had secured everything my family would need for our event. She assured me that everything would be delivered the morning of and that she and her staff would be at our location to set up. From linens, to tables and chairs, tents, microphone and audio, signs for parking…..she had it all covered. The day of our event was perfect. My family had very little stress regarding the details thanks to Melissa and her professionalism. I cannot recommend Little Blue Bird Events enough.
