Some sites are intended to create sales, others to generate donations, and others to book speaking gigs or sell products. With that said, let me answer this the best way I can in a "general" fashion.

Your website needs to be looked at, and treated as, your best and most reliable sales person and/or brand advocate. It needs to generate phone calls, emails, and/or leads for your organization. In order to that, it needs to seen as credible by your sites visitors.

Trustworthiness is achieved through a current (modern) design that includes testimonials from customers, awards won, portfolio/work examples, and current partnerships / clients. From a technical perspective, it's important that the site be secure using SSL, fast, and properly optimized and tagged so it can rank as well as possible in the search engines.

With more than 50% of traffic now being on mobile, the site should be responsive, and (possibly) use AMP and Facebook Instant Articles, depending on the site.

If the site is found well in search and social, creates confidence from visitors, has great "calls to action" (CTAs) and has clear ways to get in contact, the site will treat you well.

What do you love most about your job?

I love creating revenue streams that didn't previously exist for people/brands/organizations. It's a really powerful feeling. I love knowing that my work actually creates a difference in people's lives. I love creating.

What inspired you to start your own business?

I started my business in 1999. When I did, my twin girls were 3 years old and I wanted to create something that they could be involved in with me. I wanted to have unlimited income and be able to create my own schedule. 17 years later, my daughters are (almost) 21 years old, and both of them work with me in the marketing industry.
