What makes a great website?

There are several components that make a great website. With the homepage or the landing page, this is where you capture the attention and interest of your visitor. But you must continue holding their attention to keep them engaged with your website, and that’s were the remainder of your website goes into play. What captures an online audience is the design of the site, the layout, the colors and pictures, then we must have beautifully written content, and finally we must take your website visitor to exactly what he or she was looking for when they came across your site: your product or service that you are offering should be at a moments grasp. Because remember, nowadays the human attention span is very short therefore we must be able to grab that attention and not let it go until a potential client becomes a consumer.

What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?

1. Tell me about your company (when it was begun, what services you offer, etc.)
2. What are your short-term goals? (If you are as successful as you want to be 3-6 months from now, what does that look like?)
3. What are your long-term goals? (If you are as successful as you want to be 2-5 or more years from now, what does that look like?)
4. What sets you apart from your competitors?
5. What areas are you looking to target?
6. What marketing and/or marketing and/or advertising have you done in the past or a currently involved in? (craigslist, Facebook, directories like home advisor, yodel, etc.)
7. What is your current capacity to take work as it comes?

What do you love most about your job?

Over the past 10 years, we have helped countless of clients keep the doors to their businesses open. Within three to six months we guarantee an increase in profits, brand exposure, and an overall larger client base. The best part of our job is the satisfaction of helping local businesses achieve the success they desire.

What inspired you to start your own business?

About 15 years ago my father opened up his own local business, a towing company in Queens, NY. We had high hopes for this business because there wasn't that much competition in the area and there was always need for a tow truck. Fifteen years ago the best marketing tactic my father had was the phone book. Although as time progressed, new technology was on the rise and he did not keep up with the trend. Online and digital marketing has taken over the world of the "word of mouth" technique. Even though, still in existence, it is more common to hear "we found your business/ product on Google" rather than "your business/product was recommended to us by our friend". As new methods of marketing became more geared towards the online and digital world, my fathers business slowly diminished. The trials and tribulations my family went through after the closing of our towing comany, I vowed to not allow that to happen to anyone I know ever again. This promise inspired me learn all about global marketing, social media marketing, as well as coding, CSS, and SEO. I recived an M.S degree in marketing and used my entire savings to open Genesis Marketing Online. Over the past 10 years I've employed a team of wonderful people with similiar educational backgrounds as well as the drive and dedication to helping local businesses. We have helped hundreds of clients to expand their business and reach their goals.

Why should our clients choose you?

Our clients should choose us because we design websites and launch social media campaigns that educate potential clientele about your business or product, we offer value for visiting your website or social media platform and we give them a reason to stay on your website or social media profile, as well as helping Google and other search engines to decide to rank your website in the top spot as fully relevant for your industry.

Did you know that 83% of all searches for goods or services are done on a mobile device? Our web designs are fully responsive, meaning that your site will look great and be easy for potential customers to navigate, increasing the likelihood of a positive response. Google penalizes sites that aren’t mobile responsive, a fact that most service companies are unaware of to their detriment.

Our SEO (Search Engine Optimization-Better Google Rankings) Services and site promotion help leverage the investment you have made in your website and like any other promotional activity makes a direct contribution to your bottom-line. A website having a high ranking means more people see the name of the company and become familiar with the company and its products, even if they haven’t made a purchase before.

People more than ever like to search for products and services online before they make a buying decision. This is a fact of life and not going away anytime soon. If people can’t find your website anywhere on the internet, you're missing out (page 3 of Google search is the best place to hide a dead body!). Website Optimization and getting better Google Rankings is the best and most proven method to gaining increased website visitors and leads.

Our SEO services help bring paying customers to your doorstep. The customers that SEO brings you are looking for your products/services as they have entered your websites keywords/phrases into the search engines. Our SEO process optimizes your website for specific keywords related to what your business is all about. Search Engine Optimization typically provides a much greater return on investment when compared to newspaper ads, tv commercials and traditional mail-based advertising (which, unless a strategy of saturation to the goal of branding is implemented, is effectively gambling). As well you will actually get feedback and stats supporting this.

Therefore, if you're looking to expand or rebrand your business, Genesis Marketing Online is the professional and affordable online and digital marketing and web design company that you have been looking for!

Web Design FAQs

Expand all

How much does web design cost? This is something that can be incredibly difficult to put a figure on due to the nature of the service. There are also differences based on whether you are looking to work with a freelancer or a web design agency, and also whether you need a large, complicated site or something more simple.

We can help you to connect with the right designer to suit your needs. A clear idea of what you need, and how many pages and features are required, will be influential when it comes to pricing. This will help you to get an accurate quote for web design.

These two terms may seem like they are used interchangeably but they are two different things. A designer will be focused on the visual and creating a UI to suit the user, whereas a web developer is usually focused on the actual core of the website, making it function and using coding to enable it to do what it is supposed to.

When working with a web designer, if you want the whole package of a fully finished and functioning website, check that this is something they can offer before you employ their services. Make sure you have understood if they are offering web design or development, or both.

  • Responsive - A responsive web page design means that the site is viewable on a number of devices. The design automatically sizes to the screen and the designer doesn’t need to make formats for different devices and desktops.

  • Liquid or Fluid - This is a style of design that will shrink or stretch to the shape of the browser, and the page will look enlarged or shrunk, rather than items being rearranged. The size of the items in the design alter in relation to one another depending on the browser being used.

  • Fixed design - Fixed pages do not alter according to the browser automatically. On some devices such as tablets this can make it harder to see the content as you need to scroll around the page or pinch the screen in order to zoom in on sections. Though it is sometimes essential, fixed design is becoming less common.

Whether you are working with a freelancer or a big agency, they will have a portfolio for you to view. This allows you to see other, similar projects they have worked on and decide if they have the skills you need.

There are a number of web design certifications and they may be happy to share any they have attained, but there isn’t one standardized industry body.

If you are worried about a designer’s credentials you can also check their feedback from other clients, which you can view on their Bark profile.

Should you work with a freelancer or an agency? This is one of the decisions you need to make when looking to plan a web design project.

Working with a freelance Web Designer
This may be an option that can save you money. Freelancers are often able to charge less as they don’t have the same overheads as an agency.

Working with a Web Design agency
Web design agencies may have a bigger set of skills to draw upon than a freelancer as they will usually have a number of staff and designers working for them. They may also be able to show you a bigger portfolio, but you can expect to pay more when using an agency.

Definitely! One of the advantages of hiring a web designer is that they are able to provide services to their clients from any location. However, if your website is for a local audience, then you might want to hire someone nearby rather than further afield, so that they better understand your target market.
