My creative process always starts with research, and preliminary pencil on paper sketches. The computer is a great tool, but the best ideas come from sketches that work out the details and challenges of a project before finalizing the design in the creative computer software. I am an artist, and believe that the best most effective art comes from interviewing you the client, researching your competition, sketching and more sketching. (I have pages and pages of sketches before I start building digitally.) I went to art school before computers were used in graphic design and learned to draw, paint and illustrate with traditional methods. Great art starts with ideas not computer effects.
As mentioned in my creative process, I like to interview the client to find out the needs and goals of a particular project. The creative brief is immensely helpful in finding out more about you, your likes and dislikes, what sets you apart from your competition, and what you would like to accomplish with your project.
Being an artist since high school and getting professional design training in college, I knew I wanted to create dynamic and effective graphics of all kinds for inspiring people with great start up and branding goals.
