Take The Leash K9 Training

Hello! I'm Kathy the owner and trainer of Take The Leash K9 Training. I am a balanced trainer with many years of experience. I highly recommend that you first go to my Google Reviews-Take The Leash K9 Training-to check me out. I have many happy clients and my contact info. is there as well with links to Facebook, website and Instagram. It's just easier for me to keep all of my reviews in one area. . Program Details: I offer 3 different Board and Train programs for your puppy or dog. I also offer individual private lessons as well as a package of private lessons, and a phone consult. I obedience train your dog or puppy but I focus on state of mind to obtain the best results. I teach your dog the art of doing nothing which means to relax and stay calm on Place, it helps to install an “off switch” that helps your dog learn to be still and calm. It's really hard for dogs to sit still! Through training, you can have a well behaved dog that you can really enjoy. I teach your dog to stop pulling on walks and walk on a loose leash. I correct the unwanted barking, get your dog on a potty schedule, tackle house breaking, crate training issues, teach manners at doorways and thresholds, work on anxiety, nipping, jumping on you, counter-surfing, digging holes, playing the come and get me game while running with a sock-hair ties-gloves-tv remote-etc. and many, many more nuisance behaviors. . I stop leash reactivity and teach your dog to be more polite and not so pushy and bratty. I am not taking aggression issues, but please don't confuse leash reactivity with true aggression. I am also really good at teaching you, the owner, how to maintain what your dog or puppy has learned which is the key to continuing to have a well-behaved dog. It's very simple, you keep up the training by incorporating it into your daily life. I keep in touch with you about how your dog/puppy is doing, and you have may homework and some programs have Go Home Sessions to help train you so you can be successful with your dog at home. In order for any training program to be successful, you have to keep up the work at home and I will explain how at those sessions. I'm also very good and patient when teaching people and encourage questions. . Education: A lifetime of training dogs for fun, to help my friends better enjoy their dogs, and I used to compete with my Border Collies in Sheepdog Trials. I had a dog that accompanied me on trail rides while I was riding my horse and taught him to off leash heel so he would be safe from traffic. I believe in continuing education and attend at least one training event a year and I follow several trainers on social media. I really pay attention, it's fun for me to listen and learn more! I have completed and thoroughly enjoyed a Shadow Program with a world renowned trainer. Please take a look at my Facebook page, my Instagram, my website and my Google reviews for my business, Take The Leash K9 Training. You can also see my prices listed on my website and on my Facebook page. I look forward to helping you have a much better relationship with your dog!

What do you love most about your job?

I really enjoy helping people so they can have better relationships with their dogs. So many people are putting up with unwanted behaviors that are easily fixed and I love helping so owners and dogs can do more together. It's no fun at all being pulled around by a dog that's out of control, or having to put up with a dog or puppy that's tearing up your belongings, going potty in the house, barking excessively, and just running the house instead of listening and understanding what you want. My personal dogs go camping with us, and they don't bark, don't get out of a pen that they could easily knock down or jump. Training is what makes them stay. No dog is too old to learn manners and you don't have to put up with behavior you don't like. It never gets old to see a happy owner with a well behaved dog.

What inspired you to start your own business?

So many people spend time with their dogs at home and are really putting up with a lot of bad behavior that can be fixed, easily in most cases. A lot of people are really good at a lot of things, but need help with their dogs. I can provide that help and I find it fun, too!
I have natural talent that I constantly hone because you never know it all.
I have been training my own dogs since I was a child.
I competed in Sheepdog Trials with my Border Collies.
I have been helping friends and family with their own pets for years.
I have helped so many people with their dogs now and enjoy hearing the stories of how they can take their dogs places now and how people comment on how well behaved they are. I love hearing it!
Having a foster dog and also the Dogs on Deployment Dogs showed me how much of a need my services are. All of those dogs left my home with much better manners than they came in with.

Why should our clients choose you?

I'm not only a great dog trainer, I'm also a great people person. I listen to you and pay attention to what your goals are. I've had clients that are going to take their dogs everywhere, so I take them on even more field trips so they get used to a lot of different places. I have fostered a dog that was very unruly and interviewed 2 potential adopters. The first one was not a good fit as they had small children and although this dog was friendly, he was just going to always be a lot of dog and therefore not a good fit around small children. The second one was a spectacular fit for this dog and although the rescue group was worried that this dog would hurt or kill her chickens, I was not. I knew she would follow through and continue training him. Happy to say my recommendations lead to her adopting this dog and she's doing wonderfully with him and he has a forever home. He leaves her cat and her chickens alone due to the training he received and that she expanded upon. I've also participated in the Dogs on Deployment Program and have boarded dogs for our military members on two occasions. I have worked with a rescue group to help train them how to train their dogs to make them more adoptable.
Training doesn't have to be a chore, you can integrate small things daily to train your dog. Try using your dog's daily food for obedience training. Make him/her sit before going through any doorway. Have him sit and wait for a release command before you give him his daily food. Simple things that really matter and add up so that your dog sees you as a leader which helps your entire relationship.
I teach you to train your dog while you're doing your regular chores. It's easy to make it a lifestyle if you're taught how.
A lot of dogs end up at the shelters or at rescue because of their terrible manners, but it's never too late to start training.

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.

Yes. I can do 30 minute phone consultations to help guide you in the right direction with crate training, stopping unwanted behaviors, obedience commands, and many other things.
