So I'm here now for 6 days for stomach issue and the staff is great. I'm on 3rd floor and the staff is wonderful. The specialist Dr atia is great. The food is good except for the fruit plate lol. And the best staff member who went above and beyond to help everyone is Andrea S. So helpful and nice. Thanks for a great visit in the hospital. I have been taking my parents here for numerous tests, outpatient surgeries and they have received great care. The only complaint I have is the emergency room. I took my 18 months old son there TWICE but were let go with wrong diagnosis of flu when he was VERY ill with a major medical condition. His primary care doctor admitted him to Good Shepherd and the resident doctor was great and curious enough to do a simple ultrasound to identify a serious medical issue, which saved my son's life. If you find yourself in the area and in the unfortunate situation of needing a hospital, Advocate Good Shepherd is the place to go. I arrived at the ER around 3AM with a moderate case of pneumococcal pneumonia and early signs of sepsis. There was no wait at all, examined right away, hooked up to IVs, and within 2 or 3 hours I was admitted into the hospital as an inpatient and brought upstairs to my own room. I ended up staying for 3.5 days, and was hooked up to what I later learned was antibiotics via IV 24/7 for almost the entire stay there. My doctor (Gong) was very professional, friendly, and seemed very knowledgeable as well without having a god complex some critisize doctors for. My parents, boyfriend,  and I were impressed with him, and how the doctor, the PA/physician  assistant and  the nurses worked so well together as a team to diognose and treat me. They were very thorough, and in the process of a CAT scan to check for a blood clot in my lungs, I found out I have concerning nodules on my thyroid that my primary doctor had missed during physical exam.  The hospital was very clean, and the majority of the staff were wonderful. The only staff I was  not satisfied with were the nurse Rachel and clinical tech Toshi, whom  I had during the day shift on my last 2 days (Friday and Saturday). Rachel and Toshi left me feeling like a nuisance, and a few times ignored my pages for them, despite them responding that they would be there shortly. The rest of the staff were very attentive, friendly, and checked in regularly with out me having to call for them for minor things, but not so often that it was annoying as a patient. My boyfriend and I were both impressed enough with the hospital and other staff that the nurse and tech mentioned above had minimal impact,  and we have agreed we will come back to this hospital, should we ever need one again. This is my first time delivering a baby at good Shepard hospital. Hands down the best experience I've ever had! All the nurses and doctors are amazing! The nurses are so personal and loving! I personally had Vikki and her trainee Maria. Couldnt have asked for a better duo! They both kept reassuring me how good I was doing and how impressed they were in how strong I was. They never failed to tell me how beautiful I am and to keep up the good work. Giving birth isn't easy but these girls and my doctor made this a piece of cake! I was a passenger in a car accident a long time ago which led me to this hospital and I forgot to review this hospital sooner. . Everyone who i dealt with was so nice and really professional. Its a far cry from what i am used to when it comes to hospitals .My friend was very well taken care of which was a blessing as she was in worse shape than I was. I have had numerous friends who have went here and are always satisfied. Highly recommended as nothing short of a positive experience for not only myself but also for many people I know... Had our baby there last week and every single person was phenomenal. The nurses and techs in the L&D unit were amazing and helped provide a great birthing experience. I felt like they were extremely knowledgeable and maintained a calm demeanor when issues started to occur.Our OB is Julie Favia and I cannot begin to express how superb her care is. We were truly blown away by her expertise and knowledge when the delivery started to go south. She demonstrated her knowledge by still providing the birth I wanted and doing everything in her power to avoid a c-section. She also was a great patient advocate by speaking up for us when we wished to go home after 24 hours (we had another kiddo at home, nothing at all against the hospital). The nurses on the maternity unit were just as amazing. We never had to hit the call light for anything, they were continuously checking on me and baby, refilling my water bottle, and asking if I needed anything. Very quiet atmosphere for recovery. Just recently I became a new mom. I want to say thank you to all the day time and night time nurses I had, along with the doctors, you all were absolutely amazing! They truly cared about the well-being for our son and for me. They made us feel welcomed and if I needed anything they were right on top of it. Truly the best hospital I’ve ever been too!! I and my husband both have had surgeries at Good Shepherd. I can honestly say that we were treated well by all of the nursing staff and doctors. My husband had surgery yesterday and all of the staff was very attentive but the surgical nurse named Sherri was beyond thoughtful and caring. She attended to him from the time he returned from recovery until we left. So much so that I left a message this morning with the Patients Relation Dept that I was transferred to to express how thoughtful she was. More...

The kids club hours make it so convenient to workout.  They even opened Sunday hours.  Our kids actually get excited to go to their kids club which is so clean and friendly.  No charge for kids club is a huge plus.  Also love their bollyX and regular Zumba classes, as well as weights and toning classes. ICU Team, Thank you all for the compassionate and professional care you gave me the week following my bypass on May 1. Never before have i experienced such a crack team of caregivers. There is usually more than a few grumps in the group, but you gals and guys work like a loving machine. From my first night with the Asher ghost, who was both barely there and there all the time, quietly tending to me in the dark; to Erin, who helped map my escape, the dozen people in between were all great, tolerant of my screwups, and constantly, cheerfully helpful. I have been here for 24 hours with very minimal money or food after a family member's asthma attack and my funds left behind. I was at the point of passing out, but nurse LAUREL stepped in and gave me money out of her own pocket for food. Not only that, but TONI in the gift shop helped me find a good deal on tea and crackers. I work in a management position and if these two were my employees, they would already have given them a raise for their generosity and customer service. I had to go here to get my knee operation done after northwest screwed it up. This is a good hospital with good doctors and no one seemed out of it. Unfortunately I had to visit the ER here at Good Shepherd 3 times in less than a week because of excruciating sciatic nerve pain. Everyone from the Emergency Room front desk to the nurses to the doctors were really caring and even though they couldn't solve the L5 disc bulge that I had, they were able to help me with the pain until I could see a spine specialist. I went to Good Shepherd for elective surgery. Everyone was fantastic. Check-in was quick and smooth. The operating room staff put me and my wife at ease. I was wheeled into a private room after surgery. The nursing staff on my floor were great- they were sympathetic, patient, and very knowledgeable. I recently had a full hip replacement with Dr Lyon at Good Shepard Hospital. He is is one of the finest Drs. I have ever had, and one of the only that actually comes to bedside at the hospital, which is very rare in this day and age. That is very comforting. Also, the entire staff on the Ortho floor I was on, were fabulous and went above and beyond on every shift. This was the best ecperience I have ever had, when being in the hospital. The facility has so many amenities. There are programs and classes for both the young and old.  The exercise gym is large with lots of equipment and weights with a walk/running track  There is a full size gymnasium for basketball, indoor pool. There is even a hair salon which I have not used but it looks very nice. I have been going to their pilates classes.  I can say that the instructors are very knowledgable and helpful.  Over the years, I have used several health clubs in the area and I would have to say this one is the best.  The only downside is it does not have an outdoor pool. I came into the ER around 4:15am and was taken right into a room. (No wait time). The nurse that was with me was absolutely amazing(Brandon)- he had been an ICU Nurse for 8 years and now works in the ER. He was so attentive and personable. The ER Doc was quick and knowledgeable. He started my treatment right away and talked me through everything. He then said he had to call my surgeon to proceed(as I had surgery one month prior). My surgeon showed up to the hospital(mind you it is in the middle of the night on memorial weekend). He showed up professional and ready to make me feel better. First trip ever to Good Shepherd lands me in Emergency room for severe stomach pain. Entered Good Shepherd right after 4pm. They went right to work and diagnosed me with Appendicitis by way of CT scan. By 9pm I had my surgery, post op recovery and in my room for the night. I have never been treated better in an ER ever!  5 hours is a reasonable trip to the ER for the flu. Even better were my Nurses! Eileen, Hanna, and Sam. They took care of me the following 24 hours. I recently wrapped up a 3 day,  post-surgical stay. I was located on 4North. The care I received was top notch and I attribute that to the nurses and techs on this floor. Angela, Elyse and Courtney were the best nurses a girl could ask for, and Aracely, and Zach were right up there with them!  This hospital is brand new, everything is clean and well-stocked. Patient rooms are private and spacious. The housekeeping staff was quiet and courteous, the food service staff was quick and cheerful. For a person who felt crabby and miserable after surgery, everyone did their best to cheer me up, meet my needs and make me smile. We have been to the ER a few times for minor injuries and child illnesses and have always have had a great experience with the doctors and staff. The one time we had to be admitted, you would have thought I was as much of a patient as my son was. Everyone was so accommodating and completely made me feel like they cared so much about me and my son. Two of my children were born here (2013 and 2015) and both experiences were amazing! The nurses and staff are so kind and helpful in every aspect and treated my husband and I with respect and kindness. The breast care center staff is very honest and caring as well. We have more experience than one would want to with their local hospital, but so thankful we have an amazing one so close to our home. This hospital's staff treats you like a person, not a number. After dealing with my wife's heart condition for what seemed like eternity, they were always kind and caring both in the ER and cardio unit. Sad to say that last night was her last trip to the ER, she passed away from heart failure. The nursing staff and doctors did everything they could, however her time had come.
