Christie made it super easy to make decisions as she provided a handful of options/ideas to choose from - this eliminated me having to search high and low for items I loved - she did all the 'dirty work' for me. She went above and beyond and created the cutest, most modern and sleek baby room. Most of the items we selected were non baby items so they could/can be used for years to come. From the moment I met Andrew, I was impressed with his design vision and his attention to detail. He understood what I wanted in my remodel & addition and delivered a product that maximized my allowable footprint and created a amazing spaces. He was able to unlock the potential of my lot and now we have full ocean views from every west facing room. There were times we thought we would go over budget but, his design decisions kept everything on-track. He navigated the local building department expeditiously (They even told me “You have a great architect”). The coastal commission, which is typically a tough process, was manageable with Andrew at the helm.

Stephen holds a Bachelor of Science in Architecture and Master of Architecture Degree from Roger Williams University School of Architecture, Art and Historic Preservation. Stephen is a licensed architect, and active in the San Diego chapter of the Urban Land Institute, NAIOP, USGBC, WELL AP, NCARB and AIA.
As far back as I can remember, I was always interested in design and architecture. As a child, I spent my time drawing plans of my future dream home, watching any television program that had to do with architectural design or construction, and looking forward to my next trip to nearby Philadelphia to explore the old and new built environment. When the time came to select a career path, there was no question about it; my goal was to become an architect. I earned a Bachelor of Science in Architecture and a Master of Architecture degree and then became a licensed architect and a WELL AP (Accredited Professional). At the start of 2020, after 14 years of working at both boutique and large global architecture and design firms, I decided to take a hiatus from architecture to gain a new perspective and I joined a previous client at his new real estate start-up. Several months later the Covid pandemic hit. I was spending a lot more time at home and began to miss working in an architecture firm.
Serendipitously, friends and colleagues began reaching out to see if I was interested in taking on residential projects. I decided to take the leap and started SJS Studios. It was not long before I was taking on many new residential as well as commercial office and laboratory projects, and we opened our office in Solana Beach shortly after.
