Houchins Barn is one of our favourite wedding venues in Essex. The barn is so cool and offers something really unique with bit of an industrial feel. The marquee where the ceremony takes place is nice and light and also has a really long aisle to enjoy the brides entrance. From the moment we stepped foot in Houchins we knew it would be our venue. Everyone there, especially our organiser Taylor, has been incredibly helpful and honest about our day and what we could do with the venue. They were very flexible and the marquee provided a beautiful setting for us to eat outside on the day - fitting our festival theme perfectly. We were lucky with the weather but the venue itself is incredible, with amazing scenery around it. Could not have picked a better place to have our reception!! More...

Myself and my husband got married at Houchins in May...it has taken me this long to write a review as it only deserves the best! I can not fault the whole day, from start to finish our day was amazing, thanks to the lovely staff who were there for us whenever we needed anything, who didn't treat us like customers but as friends. Taylor and Jayson were absolutely incredible, from the moment we met them at our meetings to the actual day, we couldn't have asked for better guys to run our wedding day. Wayne also, who we met the first time we visited the venue, you can tell the love and passion they have for Houchins as it shines through their work. Every guest at our wedding said it had been the best venue they had been too, that the atmosphere was perfect...and that is exactly why we chose the venue. I recently attended a wedding here and despite having initial apprehensions on how well the layout of the venue would work, as the day went on through the ceremony, reception and evening, it worked very well! For around 100 guests and some more in the evening there was enough space without feeling overcrowded or a bit empty. The service was excellent by the waiting staff and in the evening the bar service was also good. There are different areas to sit and relax inside and outside with log fires, if you wanted to get away from the music or just take a rest between the dancing. A Beautiful Wedding venue. We were so excited about getting married here that we attended every open evening just for the chance to view it again before the wedding day. The team at Houchins were absolutely fantastic and looked after us on the Wedding Day so well making sure we had food and drinks on hand whilst having photos taken as well as looking after our guests. Houchins is an amazing wedding venue. Their are photo opportunities wherever you look, a unique interior with modern chic decor and a wonderfully crooked and beautifully decorated house to use as accommodation or just as a dressing room. But mainly my 5 star rating is for the team of people that work there. Nothing is too much, they are there when you need them and invisible when you don’t and I thank them hugely for making my wedding day the best day of my life. Houchins is the best wedding venue. The moment we first walked around we knew it was the venue for us and we couldn't have been more right. We were lucky enough to be able to set up the day before and meet Jason who instantly made us feel at ease and reassured us that they would ensure that the day ran perfectly and it did! From Taylor helping us when we were getting ready, Jason during the ceremony/meal and Wayne in the evening they all ensured that the day went perfectly and the way we wanted. The vast majority of our guests have told us that it was one of the best weddings they have been to, that it really flowed well from one thing to the next and nothing felt rushed at all. I know I spent ages planning it but I also know without the Houchins team it wouldn't have been that way at all! We cannot thank them enough for going above and beyond on our special day. It was a wet grey day in July 2014 we came to visit Houchins after visiting numerous wedding venues. Houchins was just an empty shell of a barn with literally just a metal roof. Jayson showed us where walls would be etc and showed us the drawings of what the artist impression would look like. I had a gut feeling that day and we penciled in a date there and then.
We came back and visited regularly and saw the venue developing into what Houchins is today.
I am so glad we had the vision of what Houchins would become. For me Houchins ticked all the boxes.
We have been so lucky working alongside Jayson, Wayne and Adam who have made our wedding planning stress free and have been very accommodating to our requests. We were blessed with beautiful sunny weather on our wedding day. The whole day was magical our guests have been nothing but complimentary of the venue and loved it as much as we do. Jayson & Wayne worked their socks off on the day not to mention leading up to the big day. Making it just perfect for us.
I'll definitely be keeping in touch with Jayson. He is a great guy, amazing at his job, so passionate about what he does. We were very lucky to not just find the perfect venue but to also make a new friend. I think even towards the end Jayson and my little girl became friends too.
Being the first couple to get married at Houchins means the world to me. I'm sure you'll be a great success and grow from strength to strength. Looking forward to seeing all future weddings and reviews.

My Son and his lovely Bride were married here on Easter Sunday and it was perfect. It's in a beautiful setting with wonderful photo opportunities. I loved all the separate areas within the venue, for dancing, sitting and eating. It is intimate but also spacious. The staff were so helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The accommodation is excellent with the added bonus of being within walking distance. If you have a Wedding coming up do yourself a favour and have a look at this place, you won't be disappointed. My husband(!) and I were married at Houchins last Saturday and I cannot commend the team enough for assisting with delivering the most perfect day. Our expectations were exceeded, every little detail was thought about and no request or question was too much. Every single thing went to plan on the day and we wouldn't change a single thing.
We had the pleasure of working with Taylor and Jayson on the day itself and they were both absolutely amazing. I had no need to worry about anything before the ceremony, Taylor had everything covered and made me feel so at ease amongst the nerves.
The venue itself is outstandingly beautiful. It made the photographers job a pleasure shooting in such beautiful surroundings.
I cannot thank the team enough for all of their help, through the months of planning right up until the day after when we had to depart the stunning farmhouse alongside our family and friends.

We had our wedding here on Easter Sunday and I honestly can't recommend Houchins enough! The day was perfect from start to finish and we had the best day ever! I had been dealing predominantly with Nichola through the planning process, so I was a little anxious when I realised she wouldn't be there on the day and that Jason and Wayne would be overseeing everything (purely because we hadn't met before) however I needn't have worried, the handover was flawless and went completely to plan. As a bride you plan every last detail and picture how you want everything to be, so it can be quite daunting to then hand that all over to someone else but these guys know what they are doing and took care of it perfectly! They keep everything going to plan without stressing you out or pushing you for time. So many people commented on the uniqueness of the venue, the atmosphere and the great staff. My husband and I got married at houchins at the end of July. We booked the venue over a year in advance and we were impressed with the staff right from the beginning. Wayne was very welcoming and informative in our very first viewing while we took in the beauty and tranquility houchins had to offer. We then met Taylor in our first planning meeting, who was a fantastic support all the way through the planning stages by email too. She was there for our set up day and then was brilliant behind the scenes on the day of the wedding, quietly coordinating. The phrase was "no problem", whatever we needed on the day, whether it was moving the cake cutting to a bit later to spend more time with guests, or scheduling in toilet breaks! She was an absolute asset to the team.
Houchins is such a beautiful blank canvas to play with, and we could order things to dress the venue or get up the ladder ourselves which we chose to do! The whole venue is gorgeous - we both got out of the car on our first viewing and my husband immediately said "this is nice". It feels so secluded and has beautiful fields surrounding it. We knew we wanted to make it work for our wedding. However, it was the staff that really made us feel at home from start to finish, and it was lovely to go back and collect our things after the honeymoon and speak to Taylor again. Me and my now husband got married at this beautiful venue last week Friday 2nd march! And the beast from the east had hit and our day was just made even more magical! The day went very smoothly all thanks to Taylor and the amazing team at houchins! Wayne had his shovel in hand and Jason and Taylor were on it with the fires! The farmer even sorting the lane for us all! I could go on and on with thanks for everything! I can't thank you all enough!

I don't know where to start... Houchins is not only the most beautiful venue, we fell in love with it from our first visit. Everything is just done so well from the venue itself, the garden, to the house. There are also the most lovely, helpful & professional people who work there. I know for a fact without Jayson, Wayne & Taylor, we wouldn't have had such an amazing day. They were so flexible, nothing was ever too much trouble & they were invested in making sure we had the most amazing day! It added to the experience as you didn't feel like it was just another wedding for them & made it so stress free.
