Kids loved it (2 and 5 year olds) spent the week here, easy access from A38, great woodlands, play area, assault course, fire pits, BBQs and lovely cafe, really friendly staff, David the owner very welcoming and great communication! Couldn’t recommend this place enough. Lovely beaches all within 25-45 min drive. Superstore 12 mins away by car for last minute essentials. Hurts really well equipped too. More...

Went here on a last minute trip over the bank holiday weekend. As you can imagine, most places were booked and there weren't many options. I then came across Yurtcamp online, and thought it looked pretty cool. ||||There weren't many pictures of the small yurts, which is what I was intending to book, but I liked the sound of what was on offer, so booked it, and off we set.||||In arrival, David the owner was very accomodating. He showed us around the camp, making sure we had everything we needed. Couldn't have asked for better hospitality! ||||When he brought us to our yurt, we were incredibly impressed! It was more than I had expected and for me, incredibly romantic. David switched a switch in the yurt and I asked what it was for, he didn't give anything away though, just told me that I would like it later. Turned out that it was twinkle lights around the inside, incredibly beautiful in the evening when they came on with the solar. We had a lovely double bed with a glass ceiling, looking out into the night sky. There was a log burner inside too for if we got cold (we didn't use it) and a hob to cook on, as well as a kettle and general bits and pieces. We brought food with is so it was lovely to cook up don't beans and toast in the morning and to sit out in our private forest taking it all in. We even had a fire pit which was beautiful in the evenings.||||On site there are hot showers, toilets and facilities to wash dishes etc. There was even a cafe on site but we didn't try it, so can't comment on that.||||If you like something a bit different but don't fancy the hassle of seeing up tent and carrying sleeping bags etc, then this is a nice way to 'glamp'. They seemed to have family sized yurts too! ||||For me, I couldn't have enjoyed a more romantic weekend, and such a lovely way to get back to nature, enjoying the beautiful surroundings of Dartmoor.||||Thanks again David, we would recommend over and over again! My son (aged 7) and I both loved the place. The facilities were great as was the setting, whilst the staff were so helpful. Should also say the food within the on-site café is brilliant. Should also point out that while the location is pretty remote there are facilities nearby (super market) and restaurants for those without the car. All in all - a great place and we will no doubt be back. More...

We have just returned from a 3 night stay at YurtCamp and first and foremost, the children absolutely loved it. The campsite is well set out and the assault course is brilliant. ||We felt however, there were numerous things that could easily be improved to make the stay really special.||Firstly, the owner came across as very grumpy and overly strict with the children. They were playing with the toys and he was very strict in telling them how tidy up and put them back. It all very felt very strict as we had just met and It almost felt that he didn’t want the children there.||Other things were, the doors in the shower block are SO loud and constantly bang. With very little DIY, this could be solved. We also had a cockroach in the family shower in the morning and he was still there that evening :-(||The road noise is quite loud - of course this isn’t something that can change but it’s something to bare in mind if you want total peace! ||We also felt the children’s play area could do with an update - it’s very old and basic. ||Overall, we did have a nice time and the camp has great potential. We just feel a few small things could change to make it really special. More...

We loved our alternative Yurtcamp wedding and so did our guests. I recommend starting setup of the site as early as possible on the Friday, as it took us nearly until midnight that day to get it almost finished. As our wedding was in June, the nights were cold and so I recommend you bring lots of layers as the yurts were chilly. We highly recommend this site for weddings - it felt like some fairytale dream and was loved by all those (young and old) that attended. More...

So many lovely comments from guests remarking how beautiful and different a venue it is, allowing us to extend the wedding celebrations all weekend long. We loved the fact that we could really personalise the already stunning grounds, and it really did look amazing in pictures and real life. The owner and his team worked tirelessly over the weekend (and prior!) ensuring the grounds looked amazing and ensured things ran smoothly. We had a great time at Yurtcamp. The secluded Yurts are just far enough away to feel out in the woods but only a short walk to the main area for showers etc all of these were clean and plenty of them. The woodland restaurant had great food at a reasonable price. We had our own fire pit with seating and a log burner in the Yurt. Wood was cheap and it was great fun chopping up logs for the fire. But if you don’t fancy it this could be done for you. The village area looked great for families with younger children. I can’t say we really noticed the road noise that is mentioned on the website. Having just returned from our little family holiday (5 nights), we highly recommend Yurt Camp. Having a 3 year old and 18 month old, we were a little nervous to embark on our first camping experience, so opted for glamping, as a half way house. It went above and beyong expectations. Allowing the children to play and explore in relative safety, allowed us as parents to relax; which is sometimes difficult with boisterous youngsters (eyes in the back of your head!). ||As my partners birthday fell within the holiday, I also arranged for him to have Breakfast delivered to our Yurt, to which the Woodland Cafe oblidged. We had So. Much. Fun. Yurtcamp is set in a woodland, in the grounds of an old miniature railway, so the kids were in the their element exploring the paths and tunnels and playing on the giant obstacle course, racing down the zip wire or enjoying the playground. Our best times were spent round the campfire on the village green, eating BBQ food as the kids played with other children on the site. The Yurts are comfortable, secure and have everything you need. Beds are comfy and we had a good nights' sleep every night. The wash block is kept clean and tidy. Men's showers were piping hot although the lady's were only lukewarm during our stay. David, the owner of Yurtcamp is incredibly hard working and very visible, so he's always on hand to offer any advice or help with any questions you might have.
