Today has been the worst experience of the Courtyard I have ever experienced there. It took 40 minutes for a waitress to attend our table, there was absolutely no customer service and it was not very busy, food was not the best either, you have now lost three customers. Well Done !

We visited for Easter afternoon tea on my birthday. First of all the lady serving us was lovely, I didn't get her name but she was the lady with dark hair and blonde bit at the front. Unfortunately that's all that was positive. Originally I had booked for 3 people and requested 1 normal afternoon tea, 1 gluten free and 1 vegan. I then emailed and added an extra person and requested another gluten free afternoon tea. After a bit of back and forth about prosecco or tea and coffee we finally got a drink at 1.25. Then a different lady brought out 2 stands of afternoon tea I asked which one was which and she asked what I meant. I explained that we had requested vegan and gluten free tea. To which she replied I didn't know of any dietary requirements so she took them away. At 2pm our afternoon teas finally arrived. The vegan and gluten free ones were all on one stand then a plate with a tart on and then a plate with some sandwiches on which came around 10 minutes later. I had to keep asking what was gf and vegan on the stand. The vegan sandwiches were all just salad and the chocolate brownies etc we did know were gluten free because we saw the chef come back with them once he'd nipped to tesco. I definitely wouldn't recommend for anyone with dietary requirements especially vegan because I dont believe a salad sandwich and some tesco brownies and rocky road are value for money and the long wait time meant we had to rush as we had an appointment to get to. We booked The Courtyard for 8 people for Mother’s Day and after an initial mix up with our booking I was left fearing the worst. However, the manager, Annie, went above and beyond to ensure that we were able to still have the afternoon tea - which was delicious - and turned what could have been a disastrous afternoon into a great one! A disappointing experience today. 6 of us for lunch. It took 35 minutes for our drink order to arrive. Despite ordering food 10 minutes after drinks, our food arrived before drinks too. Fo9d was delicious as always. Dirty plates were left for ages after we had finished our food, so we cleared our table ourselves and put all the plates on the bar. we couldn't have coffee after our lunch because they weren't serving hot drinks.
