Stopped here for a drink with my partner whilst on holiday in the area. The staff were very friendly and helpful and even though it was a bit dark inside the bar, there is a big sunny beer garden with lots of seating and umbrellas for shade if needed. The prices were very fair too.

We came to the star inn as we saw a sign for it. It was a lovely old pub. The bar staff were very helpful. We stayed for the Sunday carvery which was nice. You got a choice of 4 meats. Not much veg to choose from but what was there was well cooked. The beef was a little too rare for me. The pub is also dog friendly. More...

I know it’s a bit early, but things just might be on the way up for the old Star Inn in St Erth.||They have a fairly wide choice at the pump with regularly changing guest ales, all of which come out of the pipes fresh and clean. ||Food is a bit limited at the moment with a ‘fish and chip shop’ style service in the evenings from Thursday through the weekend. The prices are good, the quality better and the portions are huge!||It has been cleaned up inside with new furniture and flooring, however it has been done quite sympathetically to keep in with the history and style of the ‘village’ pub.||The garden is a great find with bbq and marquee available. They are keen to open it up to all types of events.||There is accommodation here and other reviews seem favourable however I have not stayed here.||They remain ‘dog friendly’, essential for a village pub with many walkways nearby.||I am impressed with their ‘slow and steady’ attitude with respect to the future of the pub, too many past incumbents have come in trying to change the world in a fortnight and crashed by the wayside. ||A new pool table, re-sited to a better area together with a new dartboard shows support for local pub leagues.||The Star will never be a major tourist hit but it has the potential to be a great little village pub, providing the locals and local holiday cottage renters take advantage of it. The village is crying out for a focal point; fingers crossed this might be it. More...

Well I said in my last review we would return and we did..! We have just returned home after another lovely 3 night stay in Star Inn. ||||Upon arrival we were met by Wayne the new landlord in the bar who walked us to our room (Gardenia Suite) and showed us around. Wayne then left us the key and his mobile number in case we needed any help during our stay. The room had changed a little since our last stay with a new shower cubicle fitted and new lighting. The room has a kettle with tea bags, coffee, milk and hot chocolate. There were also some lovely biscuits left for us!||||The room is a good size with a porch area and en suite bathroom. It is located round the back of the pub with its own garden area and views of the Cornish hills. There are exposed beams and stone walls. It has a big and very comfy King size bed as well as drawers and a large wardrobe with hangers. There is a also a medium sized HDTV with Freeview, 2 electric radiators and a dehumidifier. As the room has thick walls its very quiet at night so ideal for light sleepers when the bar is very lively. ||||The bathroom was supplied with shower gels and shampoo as well as soap, a hairdryer and extra toilet rolls and fresh towels.||||The pub itself is very old, 1500s I think is the age?! It is a traditional village pub filled with the locals, very lively on Friday and Saturday night but all very welcoming and friendly. The bar closes at midnight.||||Each morning we were welcomed by Steve the chef who had a table already laid for us and a cooked breakfast (full english) served within minutes. Tea, coffee and orange juice and toast was brought out for us also. He is very welcoming and friendly and also advised us on things to do during our stay.||||Steve is off Mondays and Tuesdays I believe so on those days Wayne cooks the breakfast instead! ||||As I said in the last review the wifi is only good in the bar itself as the walls are very thick.||||There is a private car park round the back which you get given a parking permit from Wayne to park your car. ||||All in all a great stay again and we will be returning next year! ||||Matt & Kirstie More...
