let's just say it's not ideal when you realise you have no water at 11pm and there is no one on site to help. Good job it wasn't a fire...

Just had a wonderful Jubilee afternoon tea at Spot in the woods. Delicious sandwiches, cakes and scones all served with excellent and personal service! The chef came out to see us and explain and the duty and general manager were fantastic. Will definitely visit again and would highly recommend! 🤩 More...

We found this little gem of a hotel on hotels.com and got a good price for our room for the night. The hotel is easy to find, beautifully decorated and designed and our room was very well equipped. We had a lovely relaxing evening and a delicious meal in the hotel that night which we tipped generously. The evening staff were lovely. We had a good nights sleep and it was very peaceful. Unfortunately breakfast service let our night away down. When we arrived for breakfast the waitress asked if we had a room. This is ok but it was her manner. We told her we were in room 7 and she then told us to take a seat and she’ll be over. 20 minutes later she finally came over and we asked for a glass of orange juice and a glass of apple juice. 25 minutes later still no juice and no breakfast order either. I called the other waitress over who was very apologetic, got our juice and took our order. The breakfast was served promptly and was very nice. When the waitress gave us our breakfast she said ‘I’ll just get you your toast’ Another 10 minutes later I asked her where our toast was and she’d forgotten it! The staff clearly knew we had received unsatisfactory service as when everyone else left they were spoken with, told to have a lovely day and we were ignored. We then went to check out. It was the same young lady at check out who hadn’t served us our drinks or taken our breakfast order. She asked our room number and then handed my husband our invoice. My husband was about to pay when I noticed that it wasn’t our name and address on the invoice and she’d given us the wrong one! She didn’t apologise just took it back and handed the correct one. We then paid, wasn’t asked if we had had a nice time or if everything has been ok just a ‘there is your receipt’ Totally unacceptable. I know staff don’t like dealing with complaints or conerns but they must be trained in how to deal with this so they are competent and confident when there are issues. In many ways I wish we hadn’t gone for breakfast as it ruined our little night away in a beautiful hotel which we would’ve been happy to revisit and recommend More...

We had the most wonderful short stay here! As always the staff are friendly, attentive and professional. Always smiling! The rooms are gorgeous along with the amazing toiletries which smell amazing (100 acres) and a proper coffee machine in the room, mini fridge, fresh milk etc. The hotel is in a beautiful rural location with the most idyllic surroundings. Close to some lovely walks and a short drive to Lyndhurst and other local towns in the New Forest. The setting also offers Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. The food is delicious with a good selection. Couldn’t recommend this accommodation enough! We’ve been coming for 4 years and we will continue to do so! More...

We arrived Saturday afternoon and was blown away by how amazing and beautiful the Shepherd Hut was. We booked for my daughters 13th Birthday and I’m so glad we did. On opening the stable door, we were greeted with a lovely warm flow of heat where they had switched on for our arrival. The radio was playing classical FM and the whole ambience was divine. The hut was classy and had much more than I expected. The toiletries were to die for and I had to treat myself on departure today. Whoever has put the 100 Acres products together need to get them into a top spa. We enjoyed the evening in the hut, playing games and eating cheese and biscuits with a nice bottle of wine. They provided plates and cutlery to my surprise. They also provided a clean scouter, fairy liquid and a tea towel so we didn’t have to live around dirty plates. The beds were really comfortable and dressed in fine white linen with lovely scatter cushions and it generally had all the mod cons. I particularly loved that they left us a little spot in the woods printed local newspaper, some local fudge and a pink gin on the bed-stand. The tonic was I the fridge, there was plenty of milk, quality tea and quality coffee. I paid £186 for the night and it included breakfast which again was amazing. The bar/restaurant is so classy again. All I think the place needs is a proper room where couples can sit in the bar and enjoy a drink in an ambient atmosphere. I would give SITW 10/10 and I’ll def come back. The girls loved it so much, they want to come back for a week. One final comment is that the staff were lovely, they enjoyed the stupidity of my boyfriends silly mouth and comments because he’s a plonker that’s makes the world laugh (except me). 😂 Upon check out, I loved hearing how the venue used to belong to Gerard Bassett who ran my other favourite hotel brand - Hotel du Vin. He may well be dead now but his spirit has definitely been left behind because it oozes class and I really do hope it finds its way to the top of everyone’s list because it really was everything and more for us 4. ♥️ More...

Good quality, beautiful place in the forest, clean and friendly, especially in the summer when you can eat outside-not so keen on when you have to book when you might only want to pop in for a piece of cake and a coffee ☕️
