DO NOT RECOMMEND at all - it’s been a complete nightmare.
The 5 star ratings and comments was why I went with this company in the first place but the experience I got was far from 5 star.
The task was for the bookcase to be cut down to size. All that was required was for the top, bottom and middle shelves to be cut down along with the backboard. For a qualified carpenter this should have been a doddle but It’s been a case of all the gear and no idea with damages to my home along the way.
On the first appointment the bookcase was cut wonky, shelves not flushed to the sides leaving big gaps and a backboard cut too short so you could see through to the back of the wall. My new wardrobe, freshly painted walls and skirting board was damaged in the process.
I gave him the benefit of the doubt as he said he would return to fix these problems.
On the second occasion, he went to B&Q to get the new shelving and backboard cut. It’s not something I’d expect from a professional carpenter. The replacement shelving provided is a different shade of white and the thickness is half the size of the other shelves. Im now left with mixed shelving types, which stands out like a sore thumb. The backboard was cut too short again and he returned to bnq to get the right size cut but the woodwork service was closed. As he had other jobs to attend to he was unable to resolve it this day and said he would be back next week.
Today was the final visit. He had gone to BNQ to get the backboard cut again but the woodwork section remained closed. He then returned and said he would cut himself. He has now completed this. However, further damage to my walls and wardrobe has occurred. The filler to the gaps in the backboard piece is a complete mess too.
This project has taken him about 6 hours to do, far too long for such a simple task especially for a carpenter with such high reviews (I would expect a couple of hours max). I chose to use a carpenter instead of doing myself for time purposes and relieve of stress but this has been far from the case. I also didn’t appreciate the comments of “this is now costing me money” when actually I’ve had to pay out for damages caused by him along the way such as a new wardrobe door (£70), paint (£40), filler etc. He would have also saved any additional costs to himself had he of done the job properly in the first place.
As you can imagine, I’ve been patient for 3 weeks to get this resolved but I’m left extremely frustrated, upset and dissatisfied with additional stuff I’ve now got to fix due to his negligence.
Unfortunately there’s no option for me to leave the photos of the damages. I will never use again.
