Strange as I've never been to Southcrest Manor Hotel as i only live a stones throw away, but the Stroke Association held a posh Christmas Dinner there. |And posh it was. Beautiful building with beautifully decorated rooms. Small bar though, suspected i should have ordered at the table as the barman wasn't too quick to serve me, but a strange sounding Lager was brilliant. |Very professionally arranged Christmas dinner, not the best Christmas dinner this year, but ok. Lady clearing the table managed to spill gravy on the chap opposite, and manage to get some on me. Under a bit of pressure though as the place was packed.|Overall a nice place. I will treat the misses a dinner there one day and I'll let you know how we get on.|Good parking. More...

We had afternoon tea in the Laura Ashley Tea Room and the room is lovely with Laura Ashley furniture, china, wallpaper etc and it looks out over the garden. ||||The afternoon tea was very good with Sandwiches, excellent Scones and lovely little cakes, just what you would expect and the staff were very friendly.||The tea was really weak and we had to ask for extra tea bags but there was no problem giving you extra pots of tea if you wanted.||||Its quite noisy when its full and there was a large party having a roast dinner which||was offputting when you are having tea. However we understand this was because of Christmas parties and it was much nicer when it was only half full.||||I think it was probably not the best time to visit - the bar area was just full of staff going back and forwards with dirty glasses from a large event piled up on the bar and the conservatory was not very warm and inviting.|||| I think a visit in the summer for tea will be much nicer and it is a very nice hotel. We had been bought a murder mystery getaway as a gift, looking up on the site Southcrest Manor had great reviews. We paid to upgrade the room but unfortunately not sure it was worth it or would have noticed the difference. The hotel is clean and spacious, set back so it’s nice and private but what makes the difference here is staff, they all come across friendly, helpful and willing especially Alan who was serving in the evening and then basically a one man show in the morning at breakfast. I couldn’t compliment him enough, he even managed to stay smiling and polite when guests were rude to him at breakfast. Nothing was a problem and he jumped to every task I see asked of him, clearly should be promoted. More...

Attended here on a murder mystery package- great evening entertainment- hotel was a little dated but staff outstanding.||||2 which stood out:||||1. Stacy at reception- I did not bring some toiletry items- when queried whether the hotel sold any she confirmed they did not but went and took some of her own from her lodgings and offered them to me. A prime example of going beyond ones duties.||||2. Alan- tall man with glasses- worked through the evening entertainment the night before no doubt into midnight and was at breakfast the next day first thing. Exceptionally smiley and friendly despite some rudeness from other guests regarding some missing hot items at breakfast. If Alan is not currently a senior member- we can only suggest he is promoted to one as he stood out as being very hardworking and nice and friendly face to be met with when entering a new establishment for the first time- certainly left an impression with me and my fiancé.||||If I’m completely honest- the hotel could do with modernisation but then that is a matter of personal opinion and to be fair the price is reasonable.||||Would I return for the customer service however? Very likely. More...

We booked an overnight stay for 5 friends on 8/9/19 we had a spa treatment and main meal and breakfast the next morning. The spa was wonderful and we ate lunch in the relaxation room as we were the only people booked into the spa for that afternoon. The bar area (laura Ashley tea room) was beautiful and dinner was good on the friday night. However we had issues with breakfast on the Saturday morning. There was no meet and greet to explain how breakfast worked that was not a real problem as we worked this out for ourselves and seated ourselves. However there was only one junior young waiter around when we ventured up to the hot food 3 of the group were able to get a cooked breakfast. The other 2 waited to speak to a hotel employee to ask for more bacon and fresh eggs. Eventually I had to go into reception as no one was around to request replenishment. By the time the bacon came which was about 15- 20 mins the rest of our group had finished their breakfast. We then had to ask for fresh fried eggs as the eggs on display were under a hot lamp and had been there sometime. I gave up waiting as the eggs again seemed to be a long time coming. other guests there were also waiting for various items to be brought out the kitchen. I did ask to speak to a manager and was initially spoken to by a lady in black uniform who was the wedding organiser. she informed me the duty manager would speak to me later when we checked out and she would ask for a review of our hotel rate. She apologised when we explained the lack of organisation and supervision of breakfast items and for the fact that we hadn't eaten all together. The duty manager then reluctantly spoke to us on checking out but he seemed nervous and flustered and didn't know how to handle our feedback. We asked for an apology which he reluctantly gave and went behind reception to look at our booking. The receptionist said that we had booked through an agent and they were muttering to each other as they didn't know what to do. In the end they were taking so long we said that we had to leave and paid our bills. This lack of organisation and supervision of food put a dampener on our lovely get together and we only hope that the duty manager took our comments on board to ensure his staff have some support and guidance in the restaurant.
