Just used the driving range. My old driving range card didn't work as apparently there are new owners but regardless, though the balls were very expensive I guess the free ball tracer tool on each bay is in part being paid for by said balls cost

We celebrated our boys 1st birthday at South Essex Golf Club and it was a huge success. the decor, location, staff and food was just on point. Umesh and Paula provide such excellent service whether over the phone, via email and on the day of the event. Their enthusiasm to cater to our needs was greatly appreciated. The only pointer I would suggest is to hire more professional staff to serve food on the day of the event so guest are not waiting. I will be using South Essex Golf Club for future events, in fact it will be the only venue I would use and of course with huge credit to Umesh and Paula. Sandy Kirby More...

Absolute joke of a place. We had a 3 ball and finished the round in a normal and reasonable time frame but that wasn't good enough for the director of the golf club who was behind us. Before we even started we were asked how quick we played as "the director is behind you with 2 other groups". If he didn't want anyone infront of him as the director he should have blocked out the tee time, also why should we allow 3 groups to play through before we have even started? Within the first few holes we already had a Marshall come up to us and ask us to hurry up and then we were accused of teeing off late even though the clock on their own buggy said 1141 as we went towards our second shot and our tee time was 1140. It was clear the whole way round we were being watched and timed as later on the marshall came round again to tell us "we were doing well for time". I wasn't aware we were 5 year olds who needed to be told well done. The whole round felt pressured and wasn't enjoyable, we were playing there as we are looking for a club to join... safe to say that won't happen. One of us complained and the director was there and basically he just said that everything was "your opinion" and had a major attitude problem. Clearly thinks because he's the director he can do and speak to people how he pleases. Also the course was in an awful state, virtually every single bunker was flooded and looked more like a fish pond and most of the ground was wet, slippy and muddy. Yes we've had some rain but not that much. Clearly drainage is non existent. All in all, if you're looking for a nice course for the day or a club to join, find somewhere else because here unless you are a director or one of his friends you don't matter but they are happy to take your money.
