I quite honestly don’t know where to begin…

We were asked to arrive promptly at 7.00 for starters, however 45 minutes later we were still waiting for the first starters to be bought to the table. Then some arrived… and the rest didn’t. It was another 20 minutes before some of the table received their starter… the vegetarian starter was supposed to be ‘curried’ with a creole dressing: instead it was mainly tasteless squash with no dressing. Others received small slices of a ‘mini pork wellington’ that was nearly cold and looked more like a sliced up sausage roll.

The wait for the pre-ordered main courses was again ridiculous, then the first meals were bought out: the turkey roast. Portions were small; nearly cold; parts were undercooked and my colleague described the turkey as warmed up slices of deli-meat. To top it off the presentation was poor meaning spilt gravy was dripping off the plates and then all over my friends suede jacket and bag by the server…

Again, there was a silly wait before other members of the party received their meal. Then the ‘Tuna Mille-Feuille’ arrived, except it didn’t. Instead I received cooked sheets of pasta with flaked grey tuna and clams. When I queried this with the waitress she took it away and came back and told me, that despite the pre-ordered Christmas menu, the chef had ‘decided to do something different’. A complete disregard for the fact that we had had to pre-order the food from a set menu and potential dietary requirements or allergies. I did receive an apology and was told that I would be given a voucher for my next visit and as I had prepaid couldn’t have it taken off the bill; I said I wasn’t happy with this and the waitress did agree to take it off the drinks bill and then left. Absolutely no acknowledgement that I had been left without a meal or the offer of a replacement meal. When the next round of drinks were bought to the table my friend queried this and, after their complaint, I was offered the turkey, I explained that I didn’t eat meat, hence preordering the fish. She asked if I would eat the moussaka, if they actually had any as they only make enough for the preorders… this was then bought to the table for me, however there was only the small pile of moussaka, no accompanying vegetables etc.

Yet again there was a ridiculous wait for dessert. At this point we were all fed up and disappointed. Then the desserts started to arrive, again in a haphazard manner with silly waits in between different members of the party being served. I genuinely didn’t think things could get worse, but mid-dessert I felt a tap on my shoulder and the waitress told the chef and owner that I was the lady who had sent her food back. I, stupidly, assumed that he has come to apologise. Instead, I got an aggressive and confrontational ‘what’s your problem’ and a very awkward and confrontational conversation about my issue with receiving something completely different to what I had ordered. The whole table within earshot was dumbfounded.

Whilst we had tried to make the best of a disappointing meal, we honestly couldn’t wait to leave. The atmosphere in the whole restaurant was tense: the service haphazard and the food disappointing. It was clear that other group bookings were also having issues which added to the uncomfortable atmosphere.

I literally can’t explain our disappointment after a difficult year working in education and would honestly suggest that anyone considering a meal in Lynn finds somewhere else to eat. More...

Visited to watch a local band, the band itself was good and the bar staff were lovely as pie. The owner was not very friendly, starting unneeded arguments with my friends about their education and smoking outside however this was permitted in the beer garden. Was gutted when I went on Saturday food was good not amazing I had coconut chicken but was quite spicy. But the service was something else. From the moment we entered. Lady said she had a table then changed her mind. So we sat at a little bar area told her when I got in I was gluten free but was given 2 normal menus waited about 10 minutes to give drink orders and ask for a gluten free menu. Then waited about 15 minutes for someone to take out order. Food came. No one came back to ask if all was good. Finished meal waited about another 15 minutes before someone cleaned our table and we could ask for the bill.
