How can someone tell if their loft is suitable for conversion?
Needs at least 2.2m between the top of the floor joists and the bottom of the ridge timber. So, at least 2m of headroom will be left once new floors and beams have been installed. Also, need to consider the headroom throughout the majority of the room.
Run us through the different stages in the loft conversion process - what’s involved?
First the roof space needs to be assessed for suitability.
Then ask an architect or surveyor to confirm suitability and create plans.
The loft being cleared and prepped.
Assess rewiring.
Install new floor joists.
Insulate floors.
Lay down floorboards.
Reinforce rafters.
