I've wanted to give Yoga a go for quite a while so I tried a one-off beginners class here at the start of the year - loved it so I booked onto the next available course & I'm enjoying going every week since. Super handy to be able to pay as you go for one off's or buy the classes in blocks to save money! The class sizes are small which is perfect for beginners, there is a wideba variety of equipment available to assist throughout the class, even chairs and blankets to help with poses and essential cushioning! There are 2 rooms for Yoga classes, the front hall is beautiful, flooded with natural light during the day and is lovely and airy throughout. The back hall has a foam insulated floor, perfect for padding around barefoot! The layout of the building is a quirky but suits the needs perfectly, & adds a homely feel to it. There are benches in the entrance to leave shoes, the rest of the building is for socks or barefeet. There is even a cozy lounge/library area to relax in or sit and wait for a class, again very homely. The instructor I have for the beginners class (Anna) is amazing. Very knowledgeable but relaxed and not at all aloof like some I have met before elsewhere! She makes you feel completely at ease even when you have no idea what the "professional" names for the poses means. She is extremely patient and attentive, offers frequent modifications to the poses for anyone less flexible or with an injury and adapts the class to suit all. She walks round to help with any adjustments and to give praise to those improving. This style of teaching is prerfect for the smaller class sizes and particularly new beginners.Thoroughly enjoying the classes here, I feel all ages and abilities welcome highly recommend giving a class here a go! I am an older student, over 70, I started classes 18 Months ago and I have found that my mobility has improved. Sometimes I go to a class with a pain somewhere, but after the class the pain has gone and I feel a lot more flexible. I would recommend anyone to attend Sheffield Yoga Center, as you get older your flexibility decreases, the younger you start the more flexible you will be in later life, also you are never too old to start and learn. I go to a Monday morning class with Anna, and it is excellent. She explains things really well and helps us understand the poses by breaking them down. I really enjoy her classes. I’ve also been to the odd one-off class with other teachers at the centre and they have been very good too. The yoga room is nice and the equipment is good. More...

Been coming here on and off for about two years & then pretty solidly due to a back injury for the past year. Iyengar Yoga has massively helped my posture & injuries. There are teachers for all levels and all types of people here. I definitely recommend for anyone with injury issues. More...

A great centre with knowledgable and supportive staff. The Therapeutic Class has helped me gain greater control over my condition (POTS) and I've even been able to half one of my medications!

I had my first experience of Iyengar yoga here as an absolute beginner aged 46, 12 years ago, and I have never looked back. The teaching is outstanding at all levels and the yoga space is quiet and peaceful. I am training to be an Iyengar yoga teacher myself now and I am grateful to the Sheffield yoga centre teachers for their precise and inspirational teaching. More...
