When my son mentioned to me that he would like to try Martial Arts, I've googled nearby classes and found QKD school. We've received a very warm welcome and still attending classes, after nearly 3 years of training! My son got a huge confidence boost over those years and met some great people. I've even decided to join him and now we are working together towards our family goals.Master Coles is amazing teacher and he's got great approach towards all of the student. The whole QKD team is made of most friendly people you can possibly imagine! More...

I was looking for something new for my seven year old twin daughters Daisie & Lillie to learn, for them to gain self discipline and to be able to defend themselves. I took my girls to their first class not really knowing what to expect. We were made to feel welcome and at ease. I was expecting to participate in the first couple of classes with my daughters and then just spectate. However, we all enjoyed the class so much I decided to stay on too.We have all progressed so much in such a short space of time. Daisie & Lillie have become stronger and have gained so much confidence. They love telling anyone that will listen their pledge which they both know off by heart, they are so proud of themselves as am I.Master Gary Coles is a fantastic teacher and has lot’s of patience for the younger members of the class. Each class is different which keeps it fresh and makes it fun for everyone as well as learning at the same time.We were fortunate enough to meet Grand Master Parisi at one of the gradings, he is such an inspirational man. He took time out to show us how to perfect our techniques which was very much appreciated.Qi Kwan Do training is definitely a new favourite in our household, I just need to convince my wife to give it a go and then the whole family will become ‘Ninja Moles’The Mole Family More...

I have always been a lover of martial arts, spending lots of my childhood wishing I could be like Bruce Lee, this never happened! My career as a chef took over my life and I had no time for anything. Now that I am a lot older I still watch all the old films from time to time and thought it was time to give it a go myself. Finding the right martial arts to do was the next step. Trawling through the internet I came across qi kwan do. I read into it and looked at a few videos online i thought this was someting me and the children could do. On to the first class we went. From that day we have enjoyed every single lesson and haven't missed a week. I have noticed a change in the children's attitudes towards others and at school. I believe this will continue to help them through life and myself into old age!! I would highly recommend this martial arts to anyone wanting to let of some steam or just to help with focus and fitness. Master Gary Coles is an excellent teacher and has lots of patients for children and adults alike. Keep up the great work. The Farina Family. More...

Nathania and Ariana are sisters with completely opposite personalities. Nathania is very outgoing, confident child with huge amount of energy whereas Ariana is very shy and quiet. We were looking for an activity which could help to bring the best out of both of them. Qi Kwan Do has proved to do just that.QKD helps Nathania’s concentration, discipline and coordination while Ariana is making huge progress with her confidence levels through a sense of accomplishment. Both of our girls got into QKD very quick as the lessons are really broken down and thought through fun. The sessions are attended by number of instructors so the children often get 1 to 1 support. It is fantastic to watch our girls gaining self-defence skills and being motivated to progress and achieve higher rank belts. I love the fact that I get to practise with them at home and they are always excited to show off their moves. I would definitely recommend QKD to anyone.Katarina Lewis – mum of Nathania (6) and Ariana (5) More...

We entered a Facebook competition after learning from a friend about this martial arts school . We came second and won a years free membership, a free uniform and 3 months free training for our 4 year old son. It’s fair to say that he is loving the Saturday morning classes and the level of support and knowledge sharing from his class and the instructors is testament to the Qi Kwan Do syllabus. The level between social interaction and controlled learning during the classes is perfect, and I love seeing my son learn essential skills whilst having fun. Master Coles has an excellent teaching style which is adaptable to suit every students needs. I have since got the buzz and signed up for 2 lessons per week, an evening class and a Saturday morning to gain quality father and son time whilst learning how to defend ourselves in a controlled manner. Both of our co-ordination levels have shot up, and I can feel my level of fitness improving after every session. We have both got our first grading this weekend, going through the journey together! I would recommend Qi Kwan Do to anyone, of any age in an instant! More...

I asked my son what he enjoyed about the classes the most and in typical boy fashion he said 'I just love fighting', although the self defence aspect is certainly a part of the reason for joining up! After digging a little deeper he said he 'likes making new friends, getting stronger, learning new belts and earning new belt colours, and Master Coles makes learning fun but doesn't let us be naughty'.From my point of view, I really think Alfie has come out of his shell since joining this class and is more confident in speaking up and doing things in front of people. Apart from the fitness element, I think the class is a great mix of fun games and learning, and think the discipline and respect all have to show to each other is really important. I am really looking forward to watching him progress through the levels. More...

I first looked in to Qi Kwan do as I wanted to help Theo build his confidence. The first few weeks were quite tough as he didn't really want to join in because he was quite shy and reserved or 'scared' as he put it. But master Coles stuck with it, week after week, gently encouraging him to join in and one day out of nowhere he was off and never looked back. Theo has been going to Qi Kwan do now for around 18 months and he loves it - he is like a different child. The classes are fun and engaging but have the right balance teaching a lot about discipline, respect, self defence and Theo's favourite 'stranger danger'. He even stands up in in assembly at school to show off his belts and certificates when he passes grading and tell everyone about what he has learnt and how hard he has worked, which may not seem like a big thing for many, but is amazing progress for Theo considering he was a child who was so shy he wouldn't even put his hand up to answer a question! Qi Kwan do has definitely helped to bring Theo out of his shell and I would highly recommend the classes to any parent who find themselves in a similar situation. More...

I wanted to find a martial art for my son to learn. Having learnt Judo and Tae Kwon Do myself I recognise the benefits these disciplines brought me in life. I didn't want to create a mini killing machine, just provide my son with some much needed focus, pride, and confidence so that he could handle himself in a potential conflict.I took him to a couple of sessions to Qi Kwan Do under the stewardship of Master Gary Coles and was impressed with his pleasant demeanour. He had the ability to relate to parents and children and has cultivated a friendly community feel within the class, which seems to grow stronger very week.I felt so comfortable with the set up that I thought i would join as well. We have both since demonstrated our commitment To Qi Kwan Do and Master Coles by paying up for the whole year and enjoyed two months free membership as a result.I recommend anyone to come along and see the class for yourself. My son's concentration and focus has improved greatly since we started and at the age of 43, my waistline is slowly firming up. More...

George was diagnosed at a very young age from a complex eye condition which has left him with very limited vision in 1 eye. We were advised by his consultant to encourage George to do as many activities as he could which would help his coordination as this is one area that George struggles with. When George first started Qi Kwan Do his confidence and self esteem were very low after suffering from being bullied at school just for wearing glasses and eye patches. Master Coles and the other Instructors have taught George so much. Obviously his health and fitness have improved but also to always respect others at all times and it has given him his confidence back and made him realise that he is as good as anybody else. Last year after 4 years of hard work George achieved his dream and became a black belt and as George frequently tells everyone it was the best day of his life. My son has always been interested in martial arts. I thought finding a martial arts program he enjoyed would be beneficial to help him learn martial arts as well as discipline and focus. Since beginning Qi Kwan Do with Master Coles, my son has shown more focus and discipline not only in Qi Kwan Do, but in his schooling and at home as well. Qi Kwan Do has helped my son find his confidence. He has learned that through hard work, dedication, and practice he can earn new belts and reach his goals. He feels more accomplished with each new belt he earns. Master Coles teaching style is a balanced blend of work and fun. As an adult, I thought Qi Kwan Do would be something I would do just to spend time with my son, but it has been a great opportunity to bond with my son as we each challenge each other to perfect our technique and earn our belts together. It is also a great workout for me too. I highly recommend Qi Kwan Do to anyone who has ever wanted to learn martial arts. Qi Kwan Do has turned into a bit of a family affair for us - from my four year-old daughter and eight year-old son to us 40-something adults, we love the training for the fitness benefits as well as the practical self-defence skills. Master Coles’ classes are friendly and a lot of fun, but they’ll also leave you out of breath, sweating and very much looking forward to the next session. The Qi Kwan Do structure also allows you to progress as quickly - or as slowly - as you’d like and there’s a real sense of achievement when you pass a grading and move to the next level, another step closure to becoming a black belt. It’s great for the children in terms of self-defence, but we’d recommend the parents pull on some trainers and join in - you’ll soon be hooked. More...

I was looking for a way for myself and my son to do a sporting activity together so I looked into QKD Martial Arts and after a trial lesson we signed up straight away. My son, who is 5, absolutely loves going to a lesson and is looking forward to getting his grading belts. It has also given him a big confidence boost and he feels more able to stand up to other children when they are being a bit bullish. I have also seen a big difference in other sports where he has been a reluctant to join in, where now he is more active in Rugby for instance. I feel this achievement is down to being more confident in his ability from the lessons he is learning in QKD. It is a great place to train and the instructors give variety at every lesson. I would certainly recommend any parent (mum's and dad's or all of the family!) to pop along to one of the classes and take part with their child/children, you never know what can be achieved until you give it a go. We were looking into martial arts classes for our son Elijah who had just turned 4 at the time. We came across Qi Kwan Do and the Little Dragons classes. We wanted Elijah to learn the self defence moves but mostly wanted to improve his confidence, self esteem and concentration. Little dragons has helped him accomplish this and more. The classes are fun, energetic and jam packed full of Qi Kwan Do moves while at the same time teaching the children discipline so they know the times where they have to listen and be sensible. This is really what we were looking for. We especially love the teaching of 'stranger danger' and what the children should do in such a situation. This is such a huge worry for all parents and to know that they are being taught the correct ways to stay safe helps to put parents' minds at rest.
