About

“Price Of My Pig (a great name for a band) come from the North West England in the UK… a high octane folk/funk dance band who like to bring a little more life and energy to your average ceilidh, by introducing rhythms from disco, reggae, funk, afrobeat, ska into their mix of Irish, English and European folk tunes.

Price of My Pig played at our wedding last Saturday and were absolutely incredible. The music was flawless and Ben was funny and engaging, and explained the dances really well to all of our guests (most of whom had never been to a ceilidh before). It was the perfect end to a perfect day. More...

Price of my Pig played at our wedding last week and they were amazing! When looking for a wedding band we found it really hard to find something that wasn’t cheesy and generic. We didn’t want a traditional soppy first dance either, we wanted something a bit different, which would get everyone up and dancing with us and this band were perfect - we couldn’t have asked for more! Ben made organisation a breeze and they stayed behind til midnight to play our playlist on their PA system with their disco lights and even asked us near the time what our last dance was to be. We had a fantastic time dancing along with both the traditional and non- traditional dances and have had loads of our guests saying how much fun they had. We can’t thank Ben and the rest of the band enough!! More...

We hired Price of my Pig for our wedding (01/09) to do dinner music, and then a ceilidh followed by a disco. Having never met the band or seen them play live, obviously we were a little apprehensive about hiring them for our wedding. Ben was very professional and flexible which helped enormously in the run up to the day. On the day itself the band were absolutely perfect! Set up in good time and discreetly, we had beautiful jazz music throughout the meal which really added a lot to the atmosphere of the evening - Ben set up a microphone for us to use for the speeches as well which was an excellent extra! Then for the ceilidh - the music was great! A really well rounded sound that filled up the dancefloor - the caller had a lot of humour and patience which got people laughing and dancing the whole time - most people actually said it was their favourite part of the wedding and really made our wedding stand out :) The ceilidh worked great as a way to get people of all ages dancing as well. Finally for the rest of the evening we had a disco, PomP provide disco lighting and a brilliant mix of songs - we were quite demanding with our playlist but asked PomP to mix them up and suggest some additions - I was so pleased to hear all of our favourites and some songs which we hadn't thought of but went really well! Very long review - just trying to get across how appreciative we were of PomP, would recommend them to anyone wanting to have a professional band who know exactly how to perform for a wedding - getting people on the floor and keeping them there :) and making sure the bride and groom have a few special moments too. THANK YOU! xx More...

These guys are brilliant. We asked if they would be happy to play at our wedding, after coming across the band at my Mum's retirement party and seeing how much fun everyone had. A lot of our wedding guests were unsure what to expect as they'd never been to a ceilidh before, however from the first song everyone was up and dancing. So many people have since contacted us to let us know how much they enjoyed it. It was a warm evening, and the barn was very hot, but despite this no-one wanted to take a break and miss any of the fun and the dancing! For the last dance we had to split the line in two as so many people wanted to get up and join in. We also opted for the DJ service after, which was great and kept everyone entertained right up until midnight. Ben is fantastic and makes the whole process so easy. The whole time I had quick responses and Ben was extremely helpful. If you're searching for a band I would 100% recommend Price of My Pig. More...

Having thoroughly enjoyed a Price of My Pig ceilidh at the Morcambe Catch the Wind festival earlier in 2017, then enjoying their open-air children's ceilidh in Dalton Square at Lancaster Music Festival, I was so excited that they were available to play at my 40th party in December. The band are really friendly and professional. They are individually great musicians, and bring a lovely sense of fun as a band. They played a good mix of tunes, and got loads of people up and dancing. Everyone loved it (including those who already like folk music and ceilidhs, and those for whom it was all new). Thanks Ben and the band for helping to make it a fab, memorable night. More...

What can I say about this band. It was the perfect way to end our perfect wedding day. Those who wanted to dance, danced. Those usually too cool to dance, danced and those unable to dance, hindered by frailty or alcohol tapped their fingers and stamped their feet - everyone enjoyed themselves and everyone remarked on how good PomP were .
What the crowds weren’t aware of though was just how professional Ben had been in the lead up to the wedding day.
Always quick to respond to enquiries and nothing was too much trouble for him. Even when a last minute panic set in over our own playlist, Ben was only too happy to assist and save the day.
I can’t recommend these guys enough; if you have an upcoming soirée on the horizon, then get PomP booked.
Great musicians, great entertainers, great professionals!
Thanks guys, truly money well spent!
PS - hope you enjoyed the beers!

Five stars are insufficient to express the quality of this musical entertainment. I would say more like five and three quarters.

Thanks you for a wonderful evening at Phoenix Ceilidh. We had so much positive feedback from our regular ceilidh goers who had not come across you before that you will be at the top of the list when we are booking bands for next year. Hopefully we will see you at some of the larger festivals soon. More...

Ben and his band provided a hell of a surprise party for my mum's 60th! Their ability to integrate with our extended friends and family, both in terms of the 'surprise' moment, the food and the speeches was superb, and really meant we were able to make it personal to mum. She hasn't stopped beaming since, and commented that having a ceilidh meant that we could enjoy the dance on our own terms, and also chat to reunited friends and family with some excellent background music. From young to old, everyone had a blast! More...

Where's the 6* button?! These guys were just fab as entertainment for our wedding day. When you have a mix of young, old and young at heart, it's so hard to please everyone, but please everyone they did. With their infectious beats, comedic interludes and toe tapping tunes, Ben and co brought energy, fun and laughter to the dancefloor. The dress code for guests was an optional touch of purple in memory of my mum, and I was really touched that they turned up in purple ties too. What lovely guys! We had a great time boogieing into the early hours as we added on a funky disco too.
Thanks Price of my Pig! You're Priceless! Emma and Alex, July 2017, Penrith

Price of My Pig ceilidhs
Ben Farmer calls an excellent ceilidh with easy to follow instructions that people with no prior experience can pick up, but are still exciting for the experienced ceilidh goer, with many places to add flourishes. He calls a variety of types of dance: waltzes, polkas, reels and the occasional Israeli dance. He includes popular moves such as stripping the willow, the basket and threading the needle. Price of My Pig ceilidhs are called with enthusiasm and an excellent sense of humour, making the dances fun for all ages, from children to retired. I must have been to half a dozen Price of My Pig ceilidhs this year and have enjoyed every one.
