Everyone told me that doing major building work would be one of the most stressful things I ever did. Thanks to Tom and his team at Pinnacle, it was one of the most exciting and satisfying things I have ever done. The only stressful part of it was choosing tiles and paint! They have a crack team of tradesmen who take huge pride in completing work to a very high standard. They never even stopped for a tea break! As project manager, Tom was more of a perfectionist than me, often noticing (and putting right) very small details that I hadn't seen, ensuring that everything was perfect. My flat is unrecognisable from how it was before, a larger, warmer and completely different space. I couldn't be more happy with Pinnacle and have been recommending them to everyone. THANK YOU!! The key to our high rating was the attention to detail of Tom Clowes, who oversaw the project. It was of great comfort to know that there was someone of high integrity and experience advising us on what was a significant sized house renovation. His communication was excellent before, during and after the project. As a result, his services, and those of his building team, were excellent value and we were left with a house that we were able to fully enjoy. Highly recommend. More...

“Pinnacle Renovation team did excellent work - high quality, clean, punctual, polite, reliable and flexible in accommodating requests. Tom, the manager discusses things with you in detail, and gets things done as per discussions, and you can hardly notice the team when they are doing the work - very pleasant and quiet. We have recommended Pinnacle Renovation Projects Limited to people we know, and this time we are pleased to share our experience with all interested.” More...

Q&As

Garages are not usually insulated. So if you are planning to convert your garage into living space then the walls and roof will need to be insulated to retain warmth. The floor is likely to be a solid concrete slab. Heat is lost through the floor as well so the floor will need to be insulated (which in turn will raise the height of the floor). If your garage is small then you will lose quite a bit of space by adding insulation. In some cases, it is sometimes easier to start from scratch and knock the old garage down and if possible, build on the old foundations. If the conversion is only going to be single story, then it is possible that this can all be done on the old foundations. If you have plans to build another floor then it is likely that the old foundations will have to be re-done as they will have to deal with the added weight of the second story. Permission from the council will be needed.

Get the permission for the project first; ask 2 or 3 builders to quote for the project (all based on the same specification); choose the one you feel most comfortable with - in other words the one you TRUST and the one you can COMMUNICATE best with - this will not always be the cheapest(!). Always ask for recent references; ask for a rough indication of how long the project will take; try to put aside a small contingency aside in case of unforeseen and unexpected items that might crop up; make sure you are happy with the Terms and Conditions and the payment plan before works begin; during the project it is good to have regular site meetings with the builder to keep communication channels open. The builder will usually liaise with the Building Control Officer (if needed for structural and foundation works) and get the various stages of the project checked and ticked off along the way. Make sure you get electrical and GAS SAFE certification and that the project is fully signed off at the end.

Usually, if other loft conversions have been done on your street then a precedent has been set and it will usually be possible. However, you will need to get permission from your local council and basic plans will need to be submitted to them first in order for permission to be granted. This can take up to 8 weeks (depending on the Council and how busy they are).

Using a 'Loft Conversion' as an example, but this will apply to rear extensions and side returns also...

I enjoy the variety of working with different clients and seeing a project take shape along the way. It can be challenging at times but there are always solutions and different ways of doing things and finding solutions for any obstacles encountered along the way.

In the early 2000’s, my friends and I were passionate about the mountains and mountaineering. (This is where the company name comes from!) We were continually trying to earn money to fund our passion, as well as securing sponsorship for some of our larger expeditions in the Himalayas and other far flung places. I used to paint and decorate houses in London and I used to recruit my friends to help me, in between expeditions. During this time, I was often asked if I had other skills such as plastering, electrics or tiling, so instead of saying no, I would seek out the right people who could do these skills and this was how the business grew into the company it is today. Pinnacle now mainly does Loft Conversions, Side Returns, Kitchens and Bathrooms. Pinnacle remains a small company in order to keep overheads down and to keep things more manageable. Time has moved on from the good old days, free-time is spent with the family and I now have several teams working on mainly London based residential projects.

Pinnacle Renovation Projects was established in 2006, to meet the increasing demand for honest and reliable tradesmen in London’s residential sector. We pride ourselves on supplying our clients with quality personnel, a professional approach and excellent service. Whether you would like to change, update or add to your new or existing home, we provide the solutions to meet your requirements.

Pinnacle aims to break each project down, thereby simplifying it into separate stages to allow smooth and efficient operation. A strong emphasis is put on communication, high levels of workmanship and the fundamental role of meeting strict time frames and budgets. Pinnacle works closely with you on each and every project.

A site manager is allocated for each project to ensure the smooth running of the job. Close and regular checks are done to ensure that each project finishes on time and within budget.

Pinnacle oversees each project right through from the very beginning to the end, from the early planning stages; working with architects, structural engineers, interior designers right through to snagging and completion.

Pinnacle believes in loyalty and that this goes hand-in-hand with trust and reliability. As a result, we are able to trust and rely on all our tradesmen to carry out each project to a high standard. All of our men have worked with us for a number of years and can be trusted to work in your home while you are out during the day or on holiday.

We are reliable and trustworthy. The teams that we have on our books have been with us since the beginning in 2006. We are a small company and we never like to take on more than we can cope with. We like to think that we are easy to communicate with. Much of our work is obtained via word-of-mouth and many customers keep coming back to us for more work.
