Q&As

Understanding what a company needs then designing and bringing it to life so companies keep up with the market, regardless of how small they are and they provide a great, cost effective, employee experience. Some of these projects have included creating pay structures so companies are competitive within the market, offer a consistent approach to salary reviews and employee's feel valued and recognised for their hard work and commitment. Knowledge sharing frameworks that offer training and development internally so costs are controlled and employees learn from the real experts in a meaningful way.

We became frustrated that the different HR departments we had worked in didn't understand the business it supported. HR tended to focus on fulfilling its own agenda rather than putting the business first, really understanding their aims and challenges and creating processes and policies that supported them. Often HR is seen as an external component to the business but we knew HR could add so much more value if it was integrated with the business, championing its biggest asset: its people. Since starting OwnHR this is what we've done. We always take the time to understand the business and then create support that really does add the best value.

We have over 20 years of HR experience and we're qualified. We put your business needs first and will always keep our advice simple and jargon free. We're complete nerds when it comes to HR research but we won't bore you with it. We want to show you how great HR can be when its done properly.

Support Bundles
Our support bundles go the extra mile to help managers, providing useful information and templates to manage end to end processes. Many of our support bundles are used by managers almost daily e.g. our annual leave bundle which includes, a leave calculator and template. All of our support bundles include infographics and guidance documents to help make daily management tasks run smoothly.

Toolkits
We focus our toolkits on popular HR topics to support managers. Our toolkits are practical guides that break down and translate HR processes and legal requirements into simple, understandable steps. We ensure you manage people processes quickly but correctly and even provide templates for you to use during processes. You can even use our toolkits as a developmental tool for your new managers, as they make HR easy for you to learn.

We understand that busy work schedules mean you can’t always attend training and development in person. We’ve created our toolkits so you can learn at a time and place that best suits you. There’s no travel involved and you can pick the topics that are relevant to you.

Employee Relations
Sometimes as a manager or employer things do not go the way you intend. Employees become unhappy with decisions, processes or more generally in their role. Managers are unclear on whether they should be agreeing to employee requests and quickly it can spiral out of control. In these circumstances, we understand the impact this can have on your business including legal costs, damage to productivity and reputation.

We provide a free 20 minute consultation with an experienced and CIPD qualified adviser, to discuss the problem which will enable us to advise on a proposal of how we will work with you to manage the situation.

Streamlining HR processes
Inefficient processes can significantly increase costs, frustrate clients and waste unnecessary time. Specifically within HR, bad processes can lead to the loss of talented candidates, managers who do not properly manage and a poor employer brand. We can streamline your HR processes to ensure they are efficient, with less delays resulting in more engagement from the business and quality outcomes.

Handbook and policies
It’s essential to have policies in place to ensure that you meet your requirements as an employer. We offer legally compliant policies which are fair, easy to understand and meaningful to your organisation. We also review your existing polices to ensure that any recent legislative changes are incorporated within them so you don’t fall short of the law. An employee handbook contains a collection of the most commonly used people policies these ensure you manage all staff consistently and in line with legal requirements and your staff are clear on your expectations.
