We used the McGibbon Construction team for a recent attic conversion that we have wanted to do for quite some time now. It was great to work with Desi and team, he was very knowledgeable about the various options available to us and he kept us updated at every stage of the process which we really appreciated. So happy I found Desi when I did. He completed a refurbishment/remodel project for us including a complete new kitchen, 4 meter patio door, new floors and he opened up our entire bottom floor for an open plan layout. We love our new home and can’t thank Desi enough. He is such a talented guy and very easy to work with. How can someone tell if their Garage is suitable for conversion?
First thing is to check if the building is structurally sound. A good indicator is the age of the building. You can also check with your local building authority to see what requirements are needed for your area to determine if it's worth it to you. Things like damp or asbestos can add to the costs of a conversion.
Run us through the different stages of the Garage conversion process - what's involved?
Making sure the walls and roof are sound.
2. Floor slab – the existing floor may need to be levelled, damp-proofed and insulated.
3. Infilling the door – Most garage conversions need to brick up the garage door.
4. Wall insulation.
