How can someone tell if their Garage is suitable for conversion?
If you live in a conservation area or a new build development, permitted development rights may not apply and you will need to contact your local planning department for further advice.
If your building is listed, you will also require listed building consent
Run us through the different stages of the Garage conversion process - what's involved?
The first step with any garage conversion is to conduct an assessment of the existing structure, in particular the soundness of the foundations, walls and roof.
This will go a long way to revealing the extent of works required to create a comfortable living environment – so it’s a key part of the design stages. If the building is in an especially dilapidated state, it may be cheaper to knock down and replace
How can someone tell if their loft is suitable for conversion?
As a general rule, 2.2m from floor to ceiling at its highest point is the threshold for undertaking a loft conversion. If your loft does not meet this requirement, it's highly unlikely you'll be able to raise your pitch roof, since councils very rarely grant permission to do that
Run us through the different stages in the loft conversion process - what’s involved?
1-Scaffolding is erected to provide independent access to the loft.
2-Structural beams are installed into party walls to form independent timber floor support and front roof elevation with dwarf wall
3-Create Dormer structure and install Velux windows.
4-Complete roof tiling to both new dormer and front roof elevation.
5-Build interior partician, doorways and ceilings
6-Install double glazed windows. Floor and wall insulation.
7-Create new access staircase between loft conversion and first floor.
8-Then plasterboard throughout and finally finish with a plaster skim.

I work 10 years for a construction company , I had good experience and I learn so much from them , all this give me confidence to start on my own and I’m glad that I did it
