We were very pleased to find that Kingsfolk were free to play at our wedding.
There were many groups of people there who didn’t know each other, and a ceilidh was an ideal way of joining in and interacting with each other.
Kingsfolk played a good selection of scottish-type ceilidh numbers.
Some people found the dancing in the first half a bit hard to follow – but in a way that added to the fun. Kingsfolk did adjust their style in the second half to make it easier to follow.
In all, they made a great contribution to everyone’s enjoyment of the night.

Kingsfolk were incredible for my 25th celebration Ceilidh! Simon was really quick at responding and arranged something for my budget so that I would have love musicians and a caller. My friends all threw themselves into it, ably guided, and though most of them had never been to a ceilidh before, all came away with glowing reviews. We hired Kingsfolk to play for our wedding reception, and we are so glad that we did because they were, without a doubt, the highlight of our big day. Communication with Simon was professional and very friendly. All of the musicians played amazingly well and created such a fun, lively atmosphere. Andy, the caller, was fantastic. What do you love most about your job?
It is very satisfying to see a hall full of people dancing to our music and having a great time.
What inspired you to start your own business?
A friend organised a fundraising barn dance using a CD player to provide the music. The following year I organised another barn dance with a live band and a whole lot of value was added to the event.
Why should our clients choose you?
Kingsfolk plays music that has power and energy. We find that people engage with our sound and a very exciting atmosphere is created. Our caller is very patient and encouraging. Never disparaging of people who are new to dancing but capable of challenging those who are experienced dancers.

All our events are in person. We love interacting with people and it is a real joy to bring a party to life, whatever the venue is like.
What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
Most of our events were cancelled during Covid, but we are now back to normal. Some clients ask us to avoid dances where people change partners and we are happy to do that.
Ceilidh band
Kingsfolk provides live music for ceilidhs. Our line up is usually accordion, violin, bass and drums. We play traditional folk tunes but all our music is energetic and powerful. We have our own caller who gives everyone the instructions for the dances and helps everyone have a great time.
