I came up with the great idea for tall, deep drawers to go in the space under our stairs one evening when trying to work out how to increase our storage space. I drew up various designs and began to work out dimensions, what I would need to hire to cut heavy MDF accurately and where to source heavy duty drawer runners. And then I stopped. If it was really such a good idea, then surely there would be someone out there who would do a far better job of it than my entry-level DIY skills would allow. I found JOAT and Charl online. He came over for a site visit and instantly he made it all seem so easy. A few weeks later he came back with everything cut perfectly to size and spent the day installing it. He was quick, tidy and friendly. JOAT-London installed under stair storage for us in February this year. That was 3 months ago now and the storage really is excellent. The drawers are sturdy and run very smoothly on the runners, even with two children using them daily. The quote felt quite high but the quality is excellent, and I am confident they will last well, so well worth the money. Charl came up with a design that could accommodate 3 steps down in the floor next to the stairs, and maintained access to our electrical fuse box. We decided to go for unfinished units, and Charl was very helpful with advising us on oil to treat the outer and paint types for the interiors. The installer irritated me slightly by being late, but redeemed himself by showing real craftsmanship in fitting the units. It took real skill and he did it well, completing in one day. More...

We had an odd shaped wall in our reception room. Joat came out to the flat and measured everything, took in our input on needs and then sent back drawings for our approval. All a very good process. These guys were great. Totally fixed a dilapidated and creaky under stair area, which now looks amazing, has more storage and finally allows us to get up the stairs without waking the neighbours! The job was done quickly and efficiently by a very focused and polite team, who took into consideration that we had to actually live in the house while the work was being done. With limited storage and a growing family we needed to utilize every available space in our house. To keep control of coats, shoes bags etc. we looked to introduce a storage solution in the dead space under our stairs. Charl provided excellent advice and a design that fitted our brief perfectly. A very professional and competitive company. We commissioned JOAT to design and build under-stair pull-out draw storage units for us. They came and measured the space and provided ideas and CAD drawings in a very fast and efficient manner. Designs were finalised via email discussions and final costings and delivery dates fixed. The bespoke storage draws were well made and installed professionally as promised. We choose to have the units hand-painted onsite and this was carried out within 1 day as promised. An all round professional experience. Charl has a very structured approach in the design process and very flexible taking on a clients ideas. The end product, understair cupboards, was engineered with precision! We painted them ourselves so we can't comment on the decoration but I'm sure Charl would have done a better job than us! There were 2 other companies who quoted for the work, but we choose Joat because their price seemed fairer and the costs and design intents were laid out very clearly in advance. More...
