She was one of the photographers at the Intellectuals' Challenge competition; she was easy to get along with, very cheerful, and had a great way and sense of self. Even as she was taking photos, she blended in with the venue easily and got some great shots. Highschoolers can get jittery with a camera pointed at them, but everything went amazingly well! What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
Being able to frame the image correctly, understanding the importance of the right lighting and engaging and interacting with your subject. Being passionate about getting the right result in the time frame given.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
I'd like to know what inspires you and what the project brief is. Do you have any examples of the style and the feel of what you're going for?
I pride myself on personal service so I will send you a document to find out a bit more about you. I want to know what makes you happy like your favourite coffee or tea, what biscuits or snacks you like and I will create you a personalised playlist of the music you love to hear, so I can play it during your studio shoot.
What do you love most about your job?
I love the flexibility to be able to work with many different people; from individuals looking for professional headshots, to SME's who need imagery of their products and press content, charities who want fashion shoots or events to bigger clients such as Cambridge University's TEDx photographing their yearly event.
I'm passionate about people and being able to work with the most innovative, dedicated and creative businesses motivates me to provide outstanding work.
What inspired you to start your own business?
After I graduated I wanted to put the skills I had learned into practice and develop them further. I also felt that providing a photography studio in Cambridge with a personal touch was something which was lacking in the city.
I wanted to be able to run my business on my own terms and fit it around how I wanted to live which has resulted in feeling content and happy!
