After following on Facebook and being absolutely desperate to go, I started tagging my husband and he liked the sound of it after many, many tags! From the moment we booked it felt special, doing a secret password really got us excited and confirmed the teams enthusiasm about what they do. We were so warmly welcomed with a wee briefing to then have our coats hung up and we were then shown downstairs to be handed a glass of champagne on arrival. We were offered to choose our table from the selection that hadn’t already been seated. We chose the small alcove with 2 tables and picked what I think is the best seat in the room! I was able to see the kitchen to my left and the full room straight ahead. The first course was croissants and a pot of cheesy joy to dip them in. These croissants have ruined all croissants I’ll ever eat again and I now have to research how to create a sour dough starter to make my own! Next we were given wine that paired with the next course and this went on for every course thereafter. The wine pairings were spot on and complimented the food perfectly. I’m looking forward to when they are able to sell the wines you’ve had that evening to take home, please add the croissants to my order too! 😜 I tried my very first oyster thanks to how it was presented and cooked, it was divine! All the courses were presented beautifully, from the description before each course and why they have paired the wine was inspiring, and the food itself was so amazing. The course I liked the most was Quack Murat, I could have licked that plate clean or gorged myself to death eating portion after portion….. I also have to mention The Howff Tree, if you worship chocolate then this is the dessert for you! It was like love on a plate, the passion that went into making this dish is so obvious, it tasted like no other chocolate I’ve had and the candied grapefruit was genius! Halfway through the night we were given a food break, this allowed us time to have the food settle a bit and visit the kitchen and speak to the team more. Speaking to John in the kitchen and hearing how passionate he is and how much he really enjoys his job was special. We both cannot wait to come back again and again and again……also did I mention those croissants from heaven? Thank you so much for a truly wonderful evening. More...
