Edan Blue performed an HR Health Check on our SME (Hospitality business with 40+ employees). The output was a clear and concise report identifying risk, potential consequences and recommendations. We found Louise to be extremely knowledgeable on HR matters and adept at understanding our business specific circumstances and challenges, to the extent that she was quickly able to offer some expert insight and practical guidance on how to reduce our exposure. This is the first time that we have taken professional HR advice but we have found it very worthwhile, helping us to clearly identify where our gaps are and enabling us to manage our HR matters more pro-actively. Q&As

I love helping businesses through the sometimes challenging maze of employing people, providing them with the guidance and support, to enable them to make the right decisions for them and their people.

After a number of years working in a global company, I wanted the freedom to work with different types of smaller clients, helping them develop their businesses.

I am an independent HR Consultant. I work with a small number of clients at any one time, allowing me to provide a personalised, bespoke approach.

Yes, I can provide services remotely, utilising Zoom as a video call tool.

How do you navigate employment legislation, face your people challenges head on, and support and manage your team?

I can provide commercial, pragmatic, straight-talking HR advice and support to guide you through the maze that is employing people.

Starting with an HR Health Check, I can assess the current well-being of your business, discuss recommendations to keep you compliant, and work with you to reduce your exposure to risk in the key areas of employment legislation. I can audit your contracts, policies and processes, future-proofing your business as you continue to grow.

Support can be provided on an ad-hoc, project or retained basis.

I have a wealth of experience of Employee Relations cases, from managing complex sickness cases to full disciplinary and grievance processes.

I have extensive experience of redundancies.
I can help prepare you for what is very often a challenging, emotional experience. I can provide advice on preparing your business case for the redundancies and guide you through the selection process, if the situation requires one. I can draft scripts for your 'at-risk' and follow-up consultation meetings and participate in these meetings. I will also deal with all follow-up paperwork.

I believe in trusting employees to do the right thing instead of having cumbersome policies listing out every detail of what they can and can’t do. Your Employee Handbook can often be one of the first documents new starters see and therefore one of their first impressions of what it’s like to work for you. - this is an opportunity to give an insight into your culture and what it's like to work for you. That said, there are a number of key policies that companies are legally required to have in the UK. I can help you develop an employee handbook that helps you showcase your company culture whilst keeping you legal.

How do you want your people to feel at work?

A great employee experience starts with envisioning how you want your people to feel when they are at work.
Identify what emotions you want to create - do you want your people to feel trusted, proud, connected, energised? By listening to your employees and identifying the moments that matter to them and what is special or different about your culture, you can create a really great employee experience.

I can help you design and implement a performance management process, encouraging on-going dialogue and regular check-ins between employees and managers throughout the year.

Where there are performance concerns, I can guide you through the process of managing this, by way of a Performance Improvement Plan, providing the employee with a structured framework to support them in improving their performance and also providing your business with a structured process which can result in termination of employment if their performance fails to improve.
