Needs some work and for the price you expect more. No club lounge is not ideal. But there are 2 others close by that do

Staff Friendly and Helpful. Room was too warm as per all usual hotel protocols! Fitness room is small and has a random bicep curl machine to go with the free weights but no bench which would have been better, and no padded floor area. Great location for the NEC and next to the resort world which has plenty of places to eat and drink. More...

We stayed for a concert at the NEC which was literary across the road, in between was a shopping centre with many restaurants to go eat in and have a coffee etc. The hotel was very clean, the staff could not do enough to help and the food was lovely especially the breakfast. Would totally recommend as stayed before and would stay again for sure. More...

We stayed here to celebrate our anniversary and visit a show at NEC. The price of the suite was more than we've previously paid but for convenience we decided to go ahead with our "date night" stay. The fact that you still have to pay for parking on top of an already expensive room feels almost like being held to ransom. The hotel is also in need of modernisation as carpets are coming up, decor is dirty and faded and some equipment, such as the in room heating, just simply isnt up to the task. The suite is also nothing more than a standard room with access to a balcony, this isnt much use in Birmingham in November. More...

The hotel is very clean although we asked for an accessible room we were on the 1 st floor, bed wasn’t made up on arrival but once we called reception room service came up to do this for us, a lovely nights sleep and very clean, it’s ideal if you are seeing a show as it is a 5 minute walk, but book early as on our stay it was fully booked. Breakfast was extra along with parking so check these to. More...

Room was spotless so my mistake in giving it a low score, My only down side was a loud fan from the air con this drove me crazy until I realised where it was coming from and turned it off

I was a bit wary after reading some negative reviews on trip advisor, however I figured I'd make my own mind up.. I'm so glad I did! ||The hotel and staff are perfect, from check in to check out, a special mention to Ross on the front desk, what a star!||I only stayed for one night, and wish I could have stayed for more, great work Holiday Inn Crowne Plaza team, be proud of your hotel, and of your customer service.. 10/10 gold star! Great nights sleep in a spacious size bed, breakfast has a good choice the only downside was a request for an allergy wasn’t met but otherwise everything was good and the evening meals are worth trying as very tasty.

Hotel is very well situated for various places in the East Midlands (not to mention the NEC!). We were very warmly welcomed on arrival and check-in was quick and easy. Our rooms were clean and well equipped and the beds are extremely comfortable.||Breakfast is a highlight with plenty of fresh food in the buffet and the opportunity to order speciality items from the chef. They obliged us with a late check-out time and when it came to it check-out was also quick and easy.||The one criticism I have is that to use the rear entrance/exit you have to walk through the dreaded smokers. In addition the area is not illuminated and is very dark at night. With steps down to the path leading to the Genting Shopping Area this is dangerous, especially for children. More...

This hotel is in a superb location for the NEC, just a short walk to Resort World and the exhibition halls. Parking is access controlled and charged for 24 hour periods. Our room was a good size and well equipped. We booked quite late due to unforeseen circumstances so we wen't able to get a deal so it ended up being quite pricey. Breakfast is buffet style and very good quality and choice. Overall a very nice place to stay.||||One slight niggle was with breakfast and teapot size, only enough tea for one and a half cups between two people. Due to a language/communication problem, when we asked for more tea I was brought another cup with hot water and a teabag in it! Simply giving people a teapot each would solve the problem. More...

On arrival we were met by such lovely helpful staff. Room was very nice, spacious, and clean. Breakfast buffet was really lovely as was the evening meal on Saturday. This hotel is ideal for shopping at the Resort Designer Outlet where there are plenty of lovely places to eat and within walking distance of the NEC. ||||This was our third or fourth stay here and since our last visit they have built the Bear Gryills (?) Experience which looks like great fun!||||Our only complaint is the position of the safe in the room. It is on the floor in the wardrobe so absolutely no use to anyone elderly, infirm or overweight as you have to actually lie on the floor to see the instructions and buttons. (Room 246).||||We will be back. Xxx More...

I’ve stayed here several times over the past decade. I like it’s location and with Resort World opening next to the hotel the location has only improved. The property is very well maintained but no matter how much maintenance work is done the only way to deal with aging is a comprehensive refurb. The rooms are well overdue that. We experienced wheezy aircondiioning and a TV that had lines running down the picture due to a faulty screen. We called to address this and were told maintenance would be up in a few minutes. 20 minutes past so I rang a second time, again reassured that maintenance would be on its way. Another 20 mins and no one so I called again and insisted on speaking to the duty manager who said that she would seek a maintenance man out and bring him up to our room. 15 minutes past and she turned up with another manager and informed me that the maintenance crew had finished and gone home had gone for the day and all that could be offered was a room transfer which is what we took them up on. Fair enough, maybe Crowne Plaza don’t have any maintenance available early evening but I can’t see why it took almost an hour and repeated chasing to be told that. We were told thta to compensate us for our wait in they’d award 2000 bonus pints into our account which never arrived. Do I chase, or not? Why promise a service recovery action and then not bother, it doesn’t make me feel any the better about the property! All the same, the rest was very much to Crowne Plaza standards.comfy bed, quiet room, good bath and shower, all very clean. As I’ve said the location is excellent being right next to resort world, alas the rear entrance to the lake and resort world is a smokers hangout and you have ot battle your way through the smog. The actual route is poorly lit and clearly no thought has gone into making this an easy exit at all despite the exact that this proximity is a real selling point. One thing we found hilarious was that an outdoor light on the walkway to resort world attached ot the Crowne Plaza wall was switched to be on during the day and off at night. Does no-one check this? So yes, a good solid stay but not without it’s issues. I certainly would stay again, the issues are irritants rather than major problems but I reckon could be resolved with a little more “management by walking around” which is what older properties sadly need... I was very impressed from the moment I arrived, helpful efficient staff at check in, who even allowed free parking until 4pm the day I was due to leave, which was helpful as I was exhibiting at the NEC, which was just a 5 minute walk from the hotel. ||||The meeting rooms were good value, with good snacks & drinks included, a nice restaurant on-site and a clean, quiet room with a sofa & desk as well as the usual bed & bathroom.||||Fast free Wifi as well.||||Much better than many “conference” hotels I have used in the past.
