How can someone tell if their loft is suitable for conversion?
The most important rule is 2.2M from floor to ceiling at it's highest point is the threshold for undertaking a loft conversion
Run us through the different stages in the loft conversion process - what’s involved?
1. Scaffolding should be erected to provide independent access to the loft
2. Structural beams should be installed into party walls to form independent timber floor support and front roof elevation with dwarf wall.
3. Create dormer structure or install Velux windows (as per client requirements).
4. Complete roof tiling to both new dormer and front roof elevation.
5. Build interior partitions, doorways and ceiling.
6. Install double glazed windows. Floor and wall insulation.
7. Create new access staircase between loft conversion and first floor.
8. Then is plasterboard and finish with a plaster skim.
