Room was nice but small. On entry the room was very dark and cold. Room had a heater in it with a leg missing so we had to prop it up and turn it on to take the chill off. Friendly staff,great service,fabulous room absolutely beautiful hotel, was even allowed to see the former cell that’s now used as a wine cellar after asking about the history of the building which was built in 1875 and was a former police station,the interior is absolutely stunning

have stayed at Cathedral Hotel several times before and its impressive as a building and in an ideal location in Derby for what we need-rooms are well appointed and clean although recent stay was most compact yet but served the purpose -didnt have the breakfast but did have a drink in the bar the night we stayed which was quiet but the bar tender was very pleasant-no issues just wonder if there is some sort of loyalty deal or discounts the hotel would offer returning customers -or a loyalty upgrade offer maybe if you stay maybe more than several times a year

Just come back from a overnight stay at this perfectly located hotel - ||1- Staff - Very friendly and helpful great information and communication from Tom before the stay and from all the staff during our stay. ||2- location is fantastic 2 minutes to all the bars and shops ... Car-parking is not a problem with discounted parking at the bottom of the street around 150 yards.||3 - Bedroom . Clean and comfortable with every thing you need it’s a old building so there is the odd crack here and there but adds to the corrector . No completes||4- Food of good quality served in a grand reception room with very attentive staff.The food did take a bit of time to come but this wasn’t a problem as the staff constantly checked to see if we were ok ..and we were .The food arrived hot and very well presented served with a glass of Prosecco .||5- Breakfast served in the same room as the evening dinner Buffett style ... I’ve had better but still not complying continental and traditional felt like it needed more staff and organisation ||6. Check out .perfect ||||This was a deal through living social all the above for 2 people £89 ..Biggest bargain every .would I book and come back again ..like a shot More...

Lovely quaint hotel with a nice, warm, traditional charm & atmosphere about it. I slept well as the hotel is very quiet & peaceful. Breakfast was fantastic. Room very good, lovely size & all the essentials provided & catered for. Staff were extremely friendly & helpful & always happy to go out of their way to make the stay as pleasant, comfortable & relaxing as possible. I received a very warm & genuine welcome during check-in & overall my experience was pretty much faultless. I will definitely be staying here again in the near future & highly recommend the hotel. Went for Groupon offer of afternoon tea. Hotel must have been beautiful in its heyday. A little bit dark in the foyer, but the dining room was spectacular. Food was gorgeous.

My Husband and I stayed here for our anniversary for two nights on a Wowcher deal. The room was clean and we upgraded to a King bed. We had dinner on our first night and it was amazing. Very well cooked, we had a little bit of a wait for the main, but when it arrived it was well worth the wait. I returned here for a friend’s wedding after having worked here when it was a police station it brought back happy memories there’s even the cell still there although the rooms are great too. The wedding coordinator Wendy had it all in hand and on schedule nothing too much trouble together with Grace they aced it. Grace was multi talented running the bar food and just generally making you feel welcome and at home. All in all a totally wonderful day making my job as Best man a tad less stressful. Thank you. We have just returned from this lovely hotel. We stayed using a Groupon voucher (excellent value) so we were not too sure what to expect, although I had looked at previous reviews. We stayed in a corner room which was very bright and airy as it had three windows. The bed was comfortable and the room was very clean and had everything you needed for a comfortable stay (including an iron and ironing board!). There was mini fridge, with water and milk and a safe for valuables. We had a great night's sleep and were not woken by other guests. The voucher included a 2 course dinner and 2 glasses of Prosecco and a full English breakfast. The food was excellent - really good quality and very tasty. Staff were helpful and friendly, particularly in the restaurant in the evening, which made it a very enjoyable night and also on reception where we left our bag. We have stayed at the hotel previously but not with a voucher, but this did not seem to cause any issues and we received just the same service as it we had paid the full amount. It is such a lovely boutique hotel and very handy for visiting sights in Derby (Cathedral/Museum/Cathedral Quarter Shops/Silk Mill (due to be reopened soon after major re-development/Quad/Deda/Royal Crown Derby to mention just a few) but tucked away on a quiet road so that you are not disturbed. A hotel full of character in centre of Derby. Opulent entrance hall and dining area. Bedroom was fine. Good TV with broad range of channels. I found the wifi connection weak.
