Beautiful cafe, stunning decor with delicious, home-cooked food and first class staff. Had an outstanding lunch there today, and it's absolutely worth a visit. The wonderful 'pay it forward' scheme for £3 means you can buy a meal for someone who needs it..... many places could take a leaf out of the 'Carriages Cafe' ethos and the world would be a better place ! Had lunch today. Really nice choice of sandwich fillings and bread options - served with vegetable crisps, coleslaw and a really delicious, colourful side salad. I had a chicken/pesto/mayo mix on a panini and my partner had a BLT on a crusty baguette - both were really yummy. There's a massive choice of traditional style cordials - we had elderflower and gooseberry and a ginger one. The decor and atmosphere was so nice we decided to hang around a little longer and also had a cream tea each. The staff were very attentive and we'll definitely go again. Highly recommend. More...

Really lovely staff, very welcoming and such a quirky and cool cafe! I love it.. I've only ever had cans of pop so can't comment on their drinks/food but they do smell delicious!

I was tempted today to eat there as my train was cancelled. I ordered a Houmous sandwhich, and I literally just got houmous and bread. No salad or anything, it was just a crazy amount of flavourless houmous in the middle of a bread roll. Quite disappointing to say I paid £3.45 for it and I couldn't eat it as all I could taste was butter. However, you do remain to be a lovely place with friendly staff. Maybe add salad in future tho or don't charge so much for something that's not worth it.

This place literally does the best coffee with THE best soy milk.
The staff are all absolutely lovely. Properly genuine people who clearly want to be there.
The owner is equally as delightful.
Also has a takeaway side if you are passing through.
Once inside it has good disabled access as the tables are nicely spread out. (Though I think there are a couple of steps initially) but I believe there is a ramp if you need access via the railway station side.
Really quirky/arty interior.

I'd heard good things about Carriages Cafe and I can now see why, their carrot and ginger soup was incredible.
The service was speedy without making us feel rushed and they had cards and dominoes to keep us entertained whilst we waited.
