We were guests here as part of a large family and friends gathering where our hosts had taken on the entire building, and it is run very much by the guests self catering and guests totally being self sufficient. There were very few staff, apart from Paul who was Entertainments Manager, and a young lady tidying up glasses etc. Paul provided the music as DJ, then organised a great local walk next day and was excellent in every way, helpful, and friendly. We had outside chefs providing food, and kitchen facilities for them were adequate rather than good, but everything was clean and wholesome. This place obviously had a chequered history and the current owner is clearly investing to improve as she can afford to, but much needs attention. The pool and jacuzzi were adequate but that building is tired and needs updating. The new conservatory/dance hall was excellent but the tables and chairs minimal. Where investment has been made, is obvious, and imperfections did not spoil what was a wonderful weekend. The bedrooms were all beautifully clean and comfortable, but the lack of ensuites, a bit of a bind. Some of the bathrooms are tired, but again, everything worked OK, with good cleanliness. Overall, we loved this place. Quirky, but very welcoming and the very few staff encountered, (2) were both excellent in every way. We wish this place and its owner the very best, and hope that when fully optimised, it keeps its lovely welcoming character and doesn’t become overpriced. Thank you. More...

Well I have to firstly say that this is not normally something I would take the time to do but having just stayed at Cannington Grange for the weekend with 48 Family and friends none of us could speak highly enough about how wonderful our weekend was. So imagine my surprise when I read the review before this. The way I rate somewhere would be on Customer service as this is in the field I work in and other wise things can be subjective. Andy and Paul were both very attentive but not over the top and as for the caterers they recommended absolutely wonderful. Yes the place is old, its a fact and they are in the middle of renovations but having visited the site beforehand we knew what to expect so no surprises there and to be honest if you were hiring somewhere as big as this for a special event why wouldn't you. Also it helped for the character of the place making it feel more homely. ||When we knew we were all going we thought we would have a day out, visit the local sites but to be honest we just enjoyed the grounds, the pool and having other people look after us. Best thing - their service and recommendations for activities. Worst thing - the finishing touches that will hopefully be done soon. Would we visit again - Definitely. More...

The main house has a big hall and they provide table and chairs to so everyone could eat together. Lovely pool with jacuzzi. There was also a sauna room but we weren’t able to use it. We stayed at Cannington Grange for a 30th birthday surprise that I prepared to my partner! I can't put into words how thankful I am for how successful it was. It beat all of my expectations and the venue was better than anything I could have think of. Jennifer and Paul were so helpful from the beginning to the end, you can see all the effort that they put into it. They make you feel at home. We booked the Paella catering and the Casino activity and all the guests loved it, all went smoothly. The indoor swimming pool it was a fantastic extra and we had so much fun! We …MoreVisited August 2017 - Cannington Grange is great for large gatherings, will take 42 adults plus young children (think I have calculated right) We had four generations 10 months to 83 years and we were all very pleased with accommodation. We stayed in Ruscombe & Toad Hall everything exceeded our expectations. Nick and Jennifer welcomed us and took us on a quick tour of our accommodation, we had asked for 2 highchairs, unfortunately they had been left outside in the rain by previous occupiers, 2 new ones were supplied within an hour. Kitchen facilities fantastic and we ate in most of the time. Dining Room and Lounge in Ruscombe Hall big enough to take all of us 11 adults and 3 children, nice that we could all eat and spend evenings together. Interconnecting door between Ruscombe and Toad Hall very useful and since new owners have taken over is now a corridor connection not through a bedroom, much more sensible. Both properties were very clean and most bathrooms and both kitchens very modern. Ruscombe Hall has a few quirky things which makes it even more endearing. The grounds were lovely plenty of space for children to run around and adults to relax, with lots of lovely tables and chairs, all looked new. Plenty of portable new barbecues, firelighters and charcoal supplied. Indoor pool was a hit for all ages, very warm and good seating around pool. The new owners have very extensive improvements in mind and if they are anything like they have already achieved this holiday accommodation will take a lot to be beaten, we look forward to coming back next year to sample them.
