Describe your creative process.
Once we have a verbal or written brief, I go away and totally absorb myself in the world and audience I am designing for. And I like to come back with ideas for the client, not just one single answer that I think is great. It's about involving the client in the design journey, not being an egotist, doing whatever I want.
What information do you need from a client before you can start work?
As much as possible. Dump it all on me... from where the business is going... to product or service info... to target audience... to what your likes and dislikes are.
What do you love most about your job?
I love every second of it. I'm about doing great work for great people, and enjoying the process. Life is too short not to enjoy your job.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I used to run a large agency based in London, with 400 staff. We had an amazing business, but I was spending more time in board meetings and doing staff appraisals, than I was designing and talking to clients. I exited for the south coast in 2008, and to work directly with clients again... no account managers getting in the way of the client and I working through great ideas.
