Thanks to teachers like Lesley and others he has become more confident of being independently in the pool and is now starting to learn a little about breathing underwater and other such basic techniques. My 2 year old daughter had become very anxious about going near any kind of swimming pool or even a blow-up splash pool, so we decided to start some beginners swimming lessons with Blue Wave Swim School. The teachers are warm, encouraging and patient, and have an emphasis on providing a non-immersive style of swimming teaching in the early stages of learning. I feel this has really helped my daughter to quickly feel relaxed and calm in the pool, and after only a few short weeks since starting the lessons, she is happy and growing in confidence in the water. Although I have only attended two lessons, Marjan's bubbly personality makes you feel instantly at ease. During the lessons, the pool was not very busy which is a good thing (as opposed to public pools) for those who are anxious. I’m a confident adult swimmer who wanted to improve my stroke efficiency. Marjan has been superb at spotting exactly what needs to be done in order to improve. She’s a pleasure to be with and really knows her stuff. It’s clear that she’s not delivering just a one size fits all programme but really making the effort to respond individually. My son is 4 years-old and we were looking for weekend swimming classes in a nice environment that could bring good results. After some research we chose Blue Wave Swim. Our son has been having private lessons since the end of 2018 and he is progressing very well. During her 2 years with blue wave, swimming instructors for my daughter have changed and while continuity in learning was maintained, I think this could have been managed better. Our daughter has been swimming here for a year and she has made such tremendous progress. She was quite skittish when she started, and only three years old. Now, at nearly five, she is absolutely fearless in the water and very competent to boot. Marjan and her team have a real gift. Blue Wave is also super easy to deal with. We joined the swim school over a year ago with our then 6 year old in a two-kids private class, our 3 year old then joined the school as well in a group class one term later. The instructors are very professional and engaging, and our kids love their classes which have really improved their confidence and ability in the water. Both of our children have attended Blue Wave Swim School (our son for about a year and a half and our daughter has had lessons for about two terms). My son started when he was 5 years old and was nervous about swimming; after one term of one to one lessons his confidence in the water was incredible and most importantly he loved swimming and was having fun! Our son absolutely loves his weekly swim lessons at Blue Wave Swim School and we are delighted with the progress he has made over the last two years.
Our son started with Blue Wave at the age of 3 in the Child and Parent lessons at the Burntwood School location and due to the quality of the lessons quickly progressed to the Pre-School Beginners class. Each lesson is a mix of swim drills to build proper technique for competitive strokes coupled with fun activities. The class sizes are small (4-6 children) allowing the instructor(s) to really know your child and his/her ability in the water, leading to an environment where the children are both challenged and supported. It has been amazing to see our son go from a child who initially needed to be held in the water to a confident water-loving little boy that can swim a width of the pool on his own.
